top notch response you lyrical tinkers!

Being as the voting only allows for 12 entries and we already have 11, i would say that only 1 more entry can be accepted. (unless anyone can think of a way around it?)

Don't limit the entries - that wouldn't be cricket!
Can't you just set up 2 poles that run into each other?

heheh well Mand if you can explain how, i would be glad to ;)

there is a maximum of 12 options in any poll.

The only way i can see to increase the amount of poll entries would be:

1. to have 2 separate rounds of votes in this thread - that will double to time.
2. Open another duplicate thread with different options - i don't want to do tend 2 threads and the site won't allow duplicate threads anyway.
3. Open another thread only for voting - whoever gets into the smaller second thread has no chance.. and who wants to look around for 2 threads..
4. no poll and make people announce their vote as a post. - i reckon that is less fun and would ensure less people would vote for fear of upsetting people.

If i have missed something please let me know, as i would rather not limit entry either.
who knows, this may be the most entries we ever get anyway, so perhaps the problem will not arise.

I think 12 spots is enough.

I can't really do that Mandy..

the site put that limit on of 12 so i am not sure if they can permanently over-ride it or not.. otherwise a mod would have to set me up a bespoke poll each week. heh a little hopeful perhaps.

Well, it would be a pity to turn anyone away. Though like you say, it may not come to that anyway.

And if you quote me one more time writing 'pole' instead of 'poll', I shall have to strangle you. :)

No need to get all Polish, let's stick to 1 vote. If there are more than 12 entries I think you, as dungeon master, should sift through the contributions and present the best 12 to the judges.

it was a double-pole/cock stroke 'come again' joke, Fropper .. I was never going to entertain a double vote.

Re: SHORT STORY - Poll corrupted - waiting for fix

Postby jiminski on Wed Oct 15, 2008 11:17 am

Ok people, the Poll is not yet working and I am concerned that this is taking too long (although we do at least have other Dramatised events to involve our active imaginations!)

how are we feeling about this?
i could ask for voting to be cast in this thread; although i think open voting is less likely to encourage a large vote.

Or we could do it by PM vote to me; although that involves your complete and and undue trust in me.

Perspectives please people of prose!

Wait? or move on in a make-shift manner?

Let's move on and resort to PMs, this thread will be dead by the time CC fixes it.

Re: VOTE BY PM - SHORT STORY - (Poll corrupted)

Postby mandyb on Wed Oct 15, 2008 1:23 pm

Is it just in games that the poll won't work, or is it a general thing? You could try making the poll in 'The (not-yet) Recovered' maybe and see if it works over there.
If not, then PMs will be the way to go, though a lot more work for you Jim.

I have not voted yet so i can not tell anything yet.. but:

With the Poll being in the Main Forum, us there a danger that people will just vote without reading the Passages ?

That wouldn't really be something someone would do. People are more likely to read and vote, or not read and leave alone.

Re: SHORT STORY - PASSAGE 3 NOW OPEN FOR ENTRY

Postby jiminski on Thu Oct 23, 2008 9:40 am

Congratulations to Fruit for the second instalment.

All entries were truly excellent!

Sorry for the delay, but the forum cock-up and all the site drama has not helped us.

Passage 3 is now open for Entry:

PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL FUTURE ENTRIES SHOULD ALL BE PM'ed TO ME.

MandyB came up with this suggestion in order to increase anonymity; add a little more mystery and circumvent any partisan voting behaviour.
