Prime or No Prime!

Postby anonymus on Thu Jul 23, 2009 7:09 am

Hi Guys, I thought i might as well start a new game here as well, it goes like this, i post a number and you guys say if its a prime or not. The one who gets it right posts a new number and we do our factorizations and say if its a prime or not and so on..
So lets get our prime on bitches!

I'll start easy to get it rolling; 61

EDIT; a prime number is a number not dividable by anything but itself or 1 to get a whole number..

bloody hell mate;) do you know how long it would take to factorise that number?
well it took about 3 seconds to google it and 15485863 is actually the 1000000th primenumber;)
cudos
but maybe we should limit it to the first 500 or 1000 primes, but hell you can google those as well.. i hate the internet

but yeah in short 15485863 is a prime

ok, thing is they dont work in reverse though.. so finding out if the 1000000th prime is a prime or not is a lot of trial and error or am i wrong?

Yes.
I completely agree with you.
You are indeed wrong.

No trial and error involved.

Working out prime numbers is pretty simple, so is the maths version of memorizing boring poetry by talentless long winded gits. Your other thread is more interesting anonymus.

1 is not prime as it has only 1 factor, a prime number is defined as having exactly 2
