Re: Hectic Eclectic Mafia (15/17)[D2] No escape for deserter

Maybe he can correct me, but by saying the only decent case I have on our claimed doctor, and then denying to be a bomb or a jester, I kind of got the feeling he was soft claiming doctor (considering he also mentioned me not being about to pick up on his bread crumbing). Now, I could be wrong so I will let him be the judge of that since if he is doctor I have had to blatantly come out and say so now.

Safari, please confirm or deny. IF deny, I want to know what you are if its not a stupid thing to request.

I somewhat caught that too. I was going to try to get him to come out and claim it before asking our actual doc (if there is one besides CLEVER and Saf) to come out. If there were a potential 2 doctor claims that all of a sudden got counter claimed, then I would easily suggest 2/3 of them were fake claims, and therefore we could at least catch 2 of them. Of course at the price of our doctor N3 (the other mafia would probably leave the real doctor till then so that we would have to debate over the lynch D3).

So, safariguy. I am going to say you have been very mischievous to say the least. And I would not mind forcing a claim so that I can confirm whether you were leading me on to believe you were the doc, or if there was a misunderstanding. Then I will go from there.

I've looked through his posts it doesn't feel like he was bread crumbing doc but I could be wrong. I didn't really get a strong impression of him being any role in particular.

When he mentioned that he had dropped hints I went and looked back at all his posts. There wasn't anything real strong that I could pick out, but I did catch vibes for a few possibilities. However, doctor was not among them.

Sigh...I'm not the doc.

I'm really the town roleblocker. I'm Calvin's Mom, from Calvin and Hobbes. I assume the flavor means that even though I make you eat your vegetables and do your homework, I really do care about you in the end.

Go back and read the post where I laid out my rationale for voting ghostly and the discussion about the convenience of being roleblocked. The vote on you ghostly was so you would pay attention to my reasoning and realize that I was breadcrumbing that I roleblocked you on Night 1 so I actually believe your claim.

That said, I cannot support a lynch on the claimed doc with no other evidence. I don't believe ghostly is mafia (although I can't necessarily prove it with just a roleblock) but I don't think lynching clever is the right thing to do either.

You claimed on a whim? I think you were just over eager to get a role out there, because I seriously doubt you would claim with no pressure under normal circumstances. This being said, I suppose I shouldn't judge you on your playing style when I dont know it very well.

Seeing as how the day was going, ghostly was probably headed for a lynch, and I don't think we can afford to mislynch our watcher now can we? I did try to make it subtle before but nobody seemed to pick up on it.

Well then I feel completely stupid ratting out my own role blocker..So then, there is one thing to add. We have a mason claim (New guy1), VT claim (Jak111), My claim of Watcher, Doctor (CLEVER) and roleblocker (Safari). So I can pretty much say without a doubt that the last three (watcher, roleblocker, doctor) are at risk of death tonight. Though there is one thing Safariguy. Why, if you were the roleblocker, did you end up voting for me anyways? And why did you role block me?

and if I was on my way to a lynch, obviously others would have had to notice that you were breadcrumbing, 1 or more being the mafia I am sure (since I seriously doubt we are on this BW against me without at least 1 on me). And if they noticed you were breadcrumbing then they would just pick another target and kill one of us tonight. I am glad you claimed due to the amount of confusion I had, but you have also somewhat.. Not contradicted yourself, but somewhat changed your playstyle.

You have been saying that my case against clever was terrible, even voted for me at least twice. The only time you started trying to tell me that you had been bread crumbing was after my claim. Which makes me think that you developed your claim of a roleblocker after I said that I had been role blocked.

Understand where I'm coming from here.

I did (and still do) believe we shouldn't lynch the claimed doc. Now, I figured that you might be mafia trying to get a mislynch on the doc (unlikely) or possibly a lyncher trying to get your lynch target dead (more likely). But after you claimed watcher, I had to reevaluate the risk/reward probability of you faking a claim. So I can't go and completely turn around and suddenly start supporting you because I still believe we shouldn't lynch clever today.

Doing a sudden 180 would no doubt bring a lot of pressure on me and I would be lying to myself if I suddenly supported you on clever. So I had to breadcrumb the identity of the roleblocker and then try to get your attention that I believed your claim. However, just because I believed your claim doesn't mean I agree with you. So I reiterated my reasoning for voting you, making sure to include the LOW probability of you being roleblocked. But I did drop the hint that low =/= impossible and I happened to roleblock you.

So as it stands now, I believe your claim, but I cannot support your case on clever as I believe the risk is too high should he be telling the truth.

Just because saf can verify that ghost was roleblocked doesn't mean that ghost is a watcher.

It was night 1 and I had to pick someone. Could have been anyone really. If you really want a reason, I was WIFOMing that mafia would send a newer player to perform the kill, so on the off chance that you were mafia and the killer, I could have prevented it.

Alright, I suppose I cant argue that case. Not too much harm done since Strike is still here anyways :).

Thats what I was thinking. It would make just about the best fake claim. I already said that I had been role blocked.

That is not how a watcher works. Rather you have described the powers of a tracker.

I think this is important to remember. Saf's verification adds substance to ghostly's claim, but does verify the claim. He could easily have another role. He could easily be mafia. Although, his claim is more believable. Both, one, or neither could still be mafia.

There has been a lot of claiming going on today... I'm not sure how many people we should force to claim in one day.

Well ok, under that logic, let's not take anyone at their word. I have put Mafia Watchers in my games before (POTC Mafia) so maybe ghostly is a mafia watcher.

And yes, this borders on WIFOM, but I think me confirming you were roleblocked probably increases the probability that your claim is believable.

Technically Ghostly could even be a mafia watcher and it was just the role name that he has lied about. However I don't think Safari would claim right now as a mafia role blocker as town Roleblocker is such a common role he would almost certainly be counter claimed.

Correct, but since ghostly knew he was role-blocked it means that he has a role that is able to tell when it is blocked. (Or he made a lucky guess.) (Unless Tailgunner is one of those mods that informs players whenever they are role-blocked.) There aren't very many standard mafia aligned roles that would be able to tell this. It seems very unlikely that the mafia kill was blocked, what with two deaths as it is, so that would more or less mean he could only be some sort of mafia aligned investigator. (All of this assumes that Ghostly and Safariguy are not scum-mates.)

I have to agree with Strike here. Unless Safariguy had some way of finding out that the game didn't have a town role-blocker, I don't think that he would have found the reward of fake-claiming role-blocker worth the risk of being counter claimed.
