i believe that an omgus can be scummy if a real case was brought up against the person like such: a accuses b of xyz and b votes a for not a real reason. that would be scummy. i think my previous statement answers that question. yes if it is in joke vote stage then it makes sense if it a joke if its a serious thing then yes i do find it scummy but also depending on if they had a reason if someone OMGUS purely to do it then it is scummy yes.

That would make 3 scum which seems like too many for an 8 player game. So I would say alien and ash are scum. Rest of the crew plus the cat as potential townies.

I definitely need to see the film, I'll probably watch it tomorrow then at least I'll be better informed to contribute.

^ Words of a wise man. Haha, yea, not many people things personal here Chuck. But watch how you word things and when you word them. Online is all fun and games but here are some tips and notes to remember when you're posting about someone.

~Their education level (Seriously, sometimes people don't know how to read or write properly)
~Their personal life (Sometimes shit happens there that can get the right pissed off and on edge in the games, so if they seem to be going through this just don't push too many buttons).
~Their sense of humor (I have a SICK sense of humor that will be noted greatly in the mafia I have up when it starts, but some do not share others sense of humor, so watch for who to tone it down for).
~ What's happening in-game (Are they being put down? Are they being belittled all the time? If so, are you adding to that or taking away from it?)
~ How well you know them/Reputation (This can go a LONG way. If you don't know them at all, throwing insults may be taken negatively, on the other hand if you know them well you should have a certain degree of respect for them while being able to throw minor/major jokes at them (Depending on the person)).

^ The above 5 notes/tips are good if you find yourself in a battle/fight/duel on here that seems to be getting a bit out of hand. It happens more often than not, but just remember we're all human and everyone should come out of it alright.

Anyway, that was in no way meant to say you're doing any of those things or anyone else is, but I just wanted to state this before it goes out of hand. With only 8 people here it'll be too easy to get in each others faces without a neutral side to ease it down.

I don't think he will be, but I think we're ripping on him a bit too much sometimes with his grammar. Some people just can't help how they word things.

I'm just saying we should tone it down before we go TOO far with it.

It's a good point with regards to no actual deaths, but in the movie, the facehugger was relatively immobile. I suppose if we mean "attacked" someone in quarantine, it's possible that Kane is alive, but will die and become an alien after a set amount of time. I suppose an obvious question would be to ask if anyone is Kane and if they are willing to lay down their lives on Day 1 on the off chance it's a funky mechanic at work here?

Is there any advantage to a no-lynch day 1? there is probably a 75% chance we lynch town today and after a night kill we would be at 4 town to 2 mafia (i am assuming that 25% of players are mafia). Wouldn't than potential put us at mylo day 2?

If we no lynch we go into day 2 with 5 town and 2 mafia and hopefully some info from night actions. A no lynch day 1 buys an additional day at the end to find scum

The plausibility of such a course of actions is very dependent on what power roles the town has, and the makeup and nature of the anti-town faction. Especially in a game this size, where the depth of the town power roles is likely very limited. (For example, we may only have a single investigative type role, so if we lose that then the plan is borked.)

Definitely a thought that has crossed my mind as well and something that I think probably merits some discussion. Possible thoughts, would Strike stick to the source regarding which character gets face raped, or would he switch it around in order to avert such a tactic?
Now, looking at Strike's notes, I see that "this will be a relatively straight forward game," do we supposed this precludes that possibility of the scum being anything as complicated as this?

A couple by which I mean a quartet of notes:

1. This will be a small game.

2. There will be vanilla townies.

3. This will be a relatively straight forward game.

4. Since it is a small game, the deadline will be no more than 5 days for the day phase and I'm looking to keep the night phase around 48 hours.

Also Strike, can you tell me if the deadline is currently in effect? Going from the start time, it would be on Wednesday the 6th, which doesn't give us much time remaining, so if it is in effect we had better get a move on...

I like to base my game play on the 1/3rd rule. For a balanced game there would be at most one third mafia/third party in game.
That does not give a lot of wiggle room in an 8 player game. Three mafia/third party would break that cap.

Ash in the movie was not who he appeared as he was programmed to keep the alien alive at the expense of the crew. I would suspect Ashe as third party. Ash will protect the alien. Will he do that working WITH the alien or separate from?

If Kane is alive at the moment he is as good as dead. No Kane no Alien. I doubt very much it is as simple as Kane coming forward.

So in my opinion we have Ash and the Alien/Kane. I suspect Kane will be sacrificed in the night scene and will not be in game.

Was on channel 4, I downloaded it today though and watched it. Kick ass movie - now to the mafia .


I don't think that if Kane is in the game he should necessarily come forward, the scene flavour only stated that one crew member has been attacked - it doesn't specify who. I think trying to get whoever is him to potentially claim is a little scummy to me and I can't see any merit in that.

Scum I believe in this game is most likely the alien with Jones as a possible third party or partner.
