Yes, if there was a lesson, I guess I missed it. Could you state what it is again?
What else is there to do, but try to compare someone's statements to "how would they act if they were mafia"? And what does "Mafia does not care if I help..." have to do with anything?
Iron Butterfly wrote:You also keep using the word should as if you have a base of knowledge to work from. This is your first game. You have NO idea how things should or should not be. Almost every theory/what if scenario can be countered by an opposing one. You keep acting as if there is only one right scenario.
It seems to me that you are the one who's saying there's only one right way to do things: "we should lynch on day 1", "townies must tell the truth", "we shouldn't get more than two claims".
I think you missed my points, so I'll try to restate them. Feel free to tell me which ones are wrong.
- It's in everyone's interest to appear to be helping the town, so that they aren't lynched.
- Mafia have the additional burden of not actually wanting to help the town.
- Your statement that you are at a disadvantage because you signed up to help the newbies learn, would seem to only apply if you were mafia. If you are town, then what is the disadvantage? You just help as much as you can.
- Since you have played more than the others here, you should know more about how to appear to be town. Are you saying that I am wrong, and that you should know less? If you are saying that everyone expects more of you because of your experience, is that an unreasonable expectation?
- Because some of your responses have seemed less helpful than they could have been, you have come under some suspicion by some of the players.
- The possible conclusions I can make from this are: a) you might be scum. b) you're town, but don't know how to appear more helpful. c) because of our noobieness, what would appear to be perfectly normal and helpful behavior to experienced players, looks somewhat scummy to us.
I admit that I don't have a strong enough read to really want you lynched, but when I turned my attention to H8 because of his lack of activity, you quickly shut that down. So I'll ask again, since you didn't answer the last time, why is it good to get two claims, but not three? Is two also better than one? If not, then is it better not to ask for claims at all, since they only seem to help the maifa?
Iron Butterfly wrote:Go through the archives again and take a gander at the day one lynches again. You will find that more often then not that the day one lynches are Town. This occurs for a variety of reasons.
Then why lynch at all on D1? You still know more on D2 from whoever is killed at night, and maybe something from your power roles, but at least you're only down one person instead of two, and you're less likely to have lost one of your power roles.
I'm fine if you're just repeating conventional wisdom that doesn't have any justification other than "that's the way things are done", but don't act like I have no logic just because I'm questioning "rules" that you can't explain.
