You were at L-2 last vote and I only see joak voting for you since... So, I believe you still live.... Though, after that comment about watching me... perhaps I'll hammer. :P
Totally kidding about putting the hammer on ya, IB!!! The deadline is "like, ages away" and I think we should make the most of that time and keep chit-chatting to see if anything scummy pops up. So, please, nobody else vote for IB any time soon.

P.S., for those who are interested, I lift my leg when I pee. :?

You were at L2 for a claim, so what's your claim :?: :D
Oh and unvote H8 as he's posted now, no reads on anyone as yet, all the voting/unvoting has spun my head.
As for gender, I take less than 5 minutes to get ready if that helps!

Woah, that was a pretty big misread mate, did you just think you were out of the game?

I have something to bring up here and may show my noobness, why is it on this site that we claim when we are L2? Surely your claim at L2 this early on, without any pressure is dubious. No way are you going to end up lynched without both mafia quick voting you? Then in D2 we are going to pick them off. On the other site I play this (mafiascum) they only claim at L1 unless under special circumstances. We know the setup of this game and we know that there is no way you can get lynched unless someone goes to L1 and then someone hammers before someone can unvote.

Throwing your claim out there so fast seems like you have something to prove here.

Can we ask questions on how this is played?

Why do we wait so long in between day and night?
Are the players supposed to create more story line?
It just seems long and boring to say lynch this person back and forth.
And in the other game I was playing I was almost lynched for being voting for a townie that wasn't talking much - maybe I just can't read between the lines that good (although, I do understand the translation of lifting a leg and getting ready in 5 minutes). Let me just be really clear...I am female and know how to roar and prrr!

I'll try. In most games, you need a majority of votes for someone to be lynched during the day. Since we have 9 players alive, it takes 5 votes on someone before they are lynched. The number of votes a player is away from being lynched (x) is expressed using "L-x" or "Lx". So if a person in our game has 3 votes against them on Day 1 (D1) then they are 2 votes short of being lynched, which can be expressed as "L-2" or "L2".

Votes can be made for the purposes of making a lynch but more likely they are first used to force a claim. A claim is when a player declares what their role (e.g., Cop, Doctor, etc.) and/or alignment (town, mafia, third party). It appears to be tradition in CC Mafia that anyone who reaches L2 is obligated to make a claim. It is not a rule but if you don't claim, more pressure may be applied to convince you to claim and you run the risk of being lynched for your unwillingness to respond to pressure. If you wait 'til you're at L1 to respond to pressure, you run the risk that scum who hasn't already voted for you will "quick vote" you to "drop the hammer" on your lynching to kill you and end the day.

If you are town and you are pressured to claim, you can answer truthfully... or twist the truth a bit as appropriate. For example, if you are a cop and you are pressured on D1 to make a claim, you may want to claim a role that is less of a target (unless you believe there is a doctor out there who can protect you). If you are mafia, you most certainly want to make up a role/alignment that is less scummish, and hopefully a lie you can pull off.

Forcing claims is a major way that town can get more information to use when deciding who to lynch. So, when IB hit L2, he claimed that he's a Vanilla Townie (no special powers). There are 5-6 Vanilla Townies in this game so odds are he truly is one... of course, it's also a very safe fake claim to make if he is, in fact, scum.

I'm still learning myself so someone please correct me if I misstated anything.

This is a great explanation, but I still have this follow up question. In my other game basically everyone so far has claimed town or vanilla town (I'm partial to chocolate town next time you claim Charm).... If everyone is going to claim town regardless of their actual alignment what is the point of a claim? Does this question make sense? If lying or telling the truth everyone will say the same thing wont they?

NO!! There is a saying we play by, which is "Lynch all liars." Once you are caught in a lie your credibility is completely shot. You can not be trusted to tell the truth. If you are the cop and lie why would anyone believe you are who you say afterwords OR your investigation. DO NOT LIE if you are Town.

But I assume that if you are the cop or some other helpful role, then it's better for you and the town that the mafia not know that? But you're saying that if people start to vote for you, then you should still be truthful and claim that role, even though the mafia are likely to kill you at night?

This seems, to me to make a lot of sense but IB is saying that on this site the convention is to claim on L2 and to not lie. Even if you are a power role, which allows scum to kill you before you even use your ability.

Where is this said IB? It seems that this could be clever ruse by the scum to flush out our power roles. I am watching you carefully....

My guess would be because this game requires 9 people to be relatively active and some of us are busy. It is suppose to be a game that is relaxing and the time allows you to ponder and think rather than be forced to make snap judgements. 3 weeks is long time for one day, but it allows us to chat and read things properly.

I hate people who are not active, it can ruin a game. I am happy to vote on policy, if someone may not appear scummy but are either absent or bad for town, then get rid of them as having a stronger team going forward is sometimes worth losing a townie for.

Zivel you saw why we claim at L2 our last game. We do so for that exact reason....This game we know the format so through group consensus we can wait to L1 if desirable.

If we allow Town to lie for any reason it sets a precedent for others to lie as well. If lying becomes except able for Town then when people get caught in a blatant lie they can not come back and say "do over"

"Where is this said?" Use common sense. Go through the archives. Throughout those games you will find people saying "Lynch All Liars" If that does not work for you try and Google it.

I'm having difficulty sussing out liars only playing one other game and it' will be day three before I really get to grips with it to be honest up till then it's all guess work nobody really gives the game away in the first days I think the first lynch is really a hope and a prayer and you might get lucky and lynch a scummy person

IB is giving out a lot of good advice, for the moment I can't see anything particularly scummy being said, I'll post more when I've had some time to look at the voting trends to see if that reveals anything.

I'm not sure I get what the exact reason you're talking about is. If a townie with a power role gets to L2 and claims to be plain vanilla in order to protect himself, and then later claims a power role after he has had a chance to use it, are you saying that we should lynch that person just because he lied? I suppose you can lynch him just to determine if he was telling the truth the second time, but you still have more information than if he told the truth before he had a chance to use his power, and was killed by the mafia that night.

If he's not killed by the mafia right away, then he'd definitely be suspicious, but at least he'd get to use his power a second time, and then if you decide to lynch him the following day, you'll find out he was telling the truth and possibly be able to identify 1 or 2 scum based on what he said.

Any of these scenarios seems better than telling the truth about a power role before you get a chance to use it.

We can what if forever but realize Mafia will always lie about who they are, which is why Town should never lie. There have been exceptions to the rule. Its means nothing if you know you are Town cop or just plain Town. You have to convince your fellow townies you are who you say.

Trust me when i say lying will only help mafia in the long run.
