Rules and Terms of Mafia

Postby Skittles! on Sun May 24, 2009 12:26 am

In this thread, the CC Mafia community helps you, a learner of the game, identify frequent terms and rules throughout the game. With the rules, they can be changed by the mod of their game if they wish, however these are the general rules followed by each mod.

Click on the 'spoiler' to see a few of the terms used on CC Mafia:

Below is a list of the rules used through the different games on this forum. Mods can change these the way they wish their game to be played. Thank you Iliad for these.

Next is a list of basic rules which new moderators should add into their game, so their players know what is unique with that game (e.g., how long day and night lasts.)

Soon to be added: A FAQ section which will help newbs of the game learn more about the game.

Thank you for This random site, otherwise known as Spogg, which I stumbled upon. Thanks also to whoever has helped as well to add to the list.

How about JOAT? (jack of all trades)
I know that one in particular I couldn't find on any sites.

Thanks /. Totally forgot about that.

Please, everyone, add what terms you think should be on there. Not roles, just terms. Yay for abbreviations.

Someone asked me lately

BW- bandwagon, i.e. voting for someone purely because other people are.

I don't know if anyone else uses this but I do because typing out bandwaggoning 20 times gets annoying.

Anyway more useful ones:

vig- Vigliante. A townie with the ability to kill at night.
VT- Vanilla townie. A townie with no abilites other than to vote.
VC- Vote count

What is role claiming? I've heard it a few times, but I'm not sure what it means.

It's when you claim a role, i.e. "I am the cop". If you tell the truth no one should bother you. However if you're scum or have some other reason to hide your true role, you have to be very careful about your claim or someone will end up counter-claiming, and at that point it's "Lynch all Liars"

Also, pulling an animorph can also be when you claim mafia. Just say pulling an animorph(2).

I'm pretty sure QFE is more often "Quoted For Emphasis". You quote someone to reiterate a point that they have made.

Added. heh. Never heard of that.

Hopefully this'll gain sticky status in a couple of days time (depends if Optimus Prime does it or not. I sure am hoping so)

To be added to this thread -
  • a FAQ section, dealing with the questions which newbs ask the most. It'll make it more simpler to understand mafia and how most things work.
  • The Rules. The basics of what should be included in the rules. To be expanded upon by the moderator of the game themself, because I'm damn too lazy to write them out.

Another term should be "Simon C-9" which is a game that is called a c-9, but in reality isn't.

Or maybe it can just mean Army of GOD.

I wouldn't mind becoming so famous that I'm actually a Mafia Term.
