L-??

Been following the currently running mafia game a bit.

After each vote, L-X(x being a number) is listed after the votes.
I was thinking it was how many votes extra were needed to lynch, but this wasn't always the case.
Maybe the mod was just sloppy? Or does it mean something else?

It normally means number of votes till a lynch. Sometimes the numbers are incorrect though.

L is the amount of votes needed for the lynch. So, for example, 13 people in a game, 7 to lynch: L=7.

L-x means there are L-x votes on a player, so a lynch on that player would require x more votes. So in the example, 5 votes on a player means L-2 (7-2=5), 2 more votes are needed to lynch (5+2=7=lynch).

So yes, the mod may have been sloppy.

I believe he was speaking of me because in my last VC I forgot to change the count on a player and it was an astronomical difference :D. I changed it to be correct though as to eliminate confusion either way.
