Hosting a Mafia! Read the OP before Voting

So I am looking to host a mafia game now that the Eragon one is winding down. There are a few out that haven't started yet, but they all seemed to have died quiet little deaths. I have a few ideas, but before I put a large amount of time into developing a in-depth plot and everything I wanted to see what people were most interested in.

Crusades Mafia - Based on the Christian crusades, wouldn't be set up like town vs scum but more A vs B with a larger 3rd party

Halo Mafia - Based on the new Halo coming out with various additional characters from other Halos, Kortana, Guity Spark and others. No Chief. Town vs Scum, maybe a few 3rd party

LOTR Mafia - Would be set in the LOTR plot, likely during the battle for Minas Tirith. Town vs Scum, maybe a few 3rd party

Dragon Age Mafia - Based off the EA game, not hugely exited about this idea but figured I should throw it out there. Town vs LOTS of Scum. Town are hard to kill / keep dead. Scum have Overlord, controls the scum partially.

Thoughts, suggestions?

Neither of these sound very interesting to me. The setup you describe for crusades is one I've never really enjoyed. Having a large third party creates a bad game for both town and scum members in my opinion. If you are town you feel disadvantaged even more than normal as town. If you are scum, it ruins the fun of finding and killing the power roles in the town. 3rd party players are often very apathetic in any investigation (since they win with either side) so it leads to very slow games a lot of times.

Halo mafia just sounds boring to me overall. The plot is bad enough in the games, why you would want to use it for mafia is beyond me.

A lotr mafia has actually already happened. It was my very first game on this site. It was well done overall and if I were you I wouldnt try to recreate it.

To be honest I think this has the most potential. Dragon Age has a great storyline to it and with the multiple endings to the game, you can change up the mafia while still staying true to the game. If I were you, I would highlight the different abilities of all of the members of the warden's group to make for some interesting roles. For exemple, you could have leliana have different songs (a joat role) where some could protect or help town but others could hinder scum. Morrigan could be tied to flemeth (scum) in some way where if flemeth doesnt die, morrigan will by night 3 and flemeth will gain new powers or something like that. Wynn could have limited revival skills, zevran could do stealth kills, dog could piss on things, the possibilities are pretty vast with this one.

I just dont agree with the large scum vs small town. There aren't enough memorable enemies in dragon age to really make it fun.

But what the heck, its your mafia, run it however you like. I just thought I would give you a little input. If you do end up doing the dragon age one, I will definitely play. If you don't do it, I might pick it up one day. I haven't modded much lately.

Hadn't given the DA mafia much thought, but if there is support for it, it could be lots of fun. Plenty of characters for the side of good... You have me thinking now.

The way you describe the general DA setup makes it sound the most interesting out of the options.

sounds a lot like my eragon game :o :-k

neither of these sound that intresting

this one also sounds like it could be fun.
so i vote for either DA or crusades.

The crusades would play quite differently then yours, I have some interesting game mechanics in mind. The third party would not be allowed to just side with the town as they did in yours. Not going into detail, no fun if there is no surprise.
