I think we would need to do it like the TPA and set aside certaing games as sanctioned and then just let them play out

I sorta thought the official games were like the TPA. And either way, I think that the player base needs to grow a bit before that happens. As does the mod pool.

This could be done in two ways that I can see.

Either have several identical games happening simultaneously, however have a usergroup for each mafia game so they are kept private. That will be quite interesting to see, the different directions the game could have played out depending on different decisions. The winners from each game could then play in a new mafia game to essentially decide the winners.

Or you could have series of games, four or so. A the end of them, players are ranked on number of wins.

This could be fun, howeveer mafia is traditionally not terribly competitive, and it's much more like card games, have to play to best ability with what you are given.
