What tactic do you suggest?

Postby Condestável on Sun Nov 08, 2015 2:01 pm

So what's the technique against this crap? I've conclude that if I play with 10 dice attacking the result will be about the same shit:

Image

In these "specific" games, the big ones, I've tried everything, now I'm resorting to guerrilla, I wait for them to open units down to 2 and 1 and only attack 1's if possible, 2 if no other option, I stack a lot, I go for bonus, patiently get stronger, then I lose 36 vs 21, 19x5, 8 x 1, 5 x 1 and the outcome remains the same shit.

Then the outcomes magically normalize in games fighting for 10 points, where with 10 men I take down 10 to 15 every turn.

Maybe I'll be patient enough to upload a good collection of screenshots, all of them, good and bad so that people see for themselves. If there's still people here.

I wonder what you've done to deserve dice like that. Maybe you were a very evil person in a previous life? Maybe mortification of the flesh is required to appease the gods. Personally, I would start with a half-hour of self-flagellation and see if the dice improve.

I've had this gem myself:
show

The player in question wasn't playing that well and luck caused me to fail a number of game-winning opportunities. I challenged him to few rematches since I got salty, and beat him in the next 3 games.

So yeah, here's some advice to battle this:

I've played a lot games based on dice since kid and I've never seen anything like this.

Besides Risk I play a lot of Dice Poker (similar to Yatzy but longer).

In one night in 3 or 4 hours you can roll real dice up to 700 or 800 times.

You don't imagine how hard is to roll 1-1-1. You see it often in 5-dice rolls but... in a 3-dice roll? you may have to wait 1 week playing 400 rolls per night to get a 1-1-1 first hand. Here I see one of those several times every day playing a few rounds.

You'd take months to get stuff in real life that you get here several times in a 10 round game, and in the next game and in the next one. The distribution is simply horrible.

There's a site that starts in L and ends in "grab". You don't get the shitty square-wave-like outcomes you get here.

You can disable the dice. Settings => Game settings => Hide Dice => Yes.

There's 2 words which both start with a g. Git gud.

3x2 attack should give you a 15% advantage throughout long samples.

Why does 3x2 attack give 25% advantage in battle outcome against bots and freemium vs -10 to 5% disadvantage against premium players in long samples?

Because it doesn't.

FALSE
Odds of rolling 1-1-1 = 1/216
Just for fun...
% chance of rolling 400 times WITHOUT seeing a 1-1-1 = 15.6%
% chance of rolling "400 times a day for a week" and not seeing 1-1-1 = 0.0002276%
Also, odds are, you're likely to see 1-1-1 in your first 150 rolls.

Relax dude. Bad luck is a mathematical probability. Everyone comes across it at some point. Especially when the bad luck streaks continue for periods of 1 week+ it can be painful, but if you're practiced enough, you'll just regain your score and rise in rank once that streak's over.

Good idea, since it's common fact that the dice are streaky.

Its actually not hard at all. Take a look at these three rolls-

First roll was a 9v3 auto roll

Image

The very next battle (autoroll) in the same game-

Image

Then I did a autoroll for 20v1 and surprisingly there was no triples so I didnt bother screenshotting that,
however the very next roll, again, same game very next attack (I cant remember exactly but it was something like 12v6), so it took almost a whole six rolls for me to get another triple 1.

Image

So we have four sets of triple 1's (each at odds of 1:216 but four times???) in the space of about 20 - 25 rolls.

Now it will even up in my next game and I get a similar run of 6's againt my poor opponent and the guys saying there is no problem will say, "ahh that randomness for you", in the long run it evens out. yes it does even out but its not right
