Anyone else experiencing an almost constant lag and continuous timing out messages? This makes it almost impossible to play.

Not here in London, solid, fast connect all morning.

Do a Trace Route and post the results mate.

I had one game lagging out just now, probably because of the battle royales, central command and some other retarded efforts being made behind the scenes.

Every other site works fine except for cc. Have used a laptop and a pc in 2 different locations and all the same. I can't take turns. Used both internet explorer and chrome, since firefox was already messed up a couple of updates ago. Suppose I could move to London.

you have to be prepared to refresh your connection with the site at a moments notice.

It has to do with routing issues.

google up a couple terms like "bandwidth", and "network protocols", and "net neutrality", for starts.

there are other issues, too. it's rough world out there for phbb

I've experienced it two days out of three since around the middle of December. I thought it might be my new PC having some issue some software not being updated correctly or so, but if other people are having it...

I have to click "stop" and "refresh" after every action.
But as I said, not every time i log in. 50-66% of the time.
I'm taking a break from CC now as soon as games are finished up, so won't be following up on this thread though. Hope they get it sorted for the rest of you having issues.

Well, I did make some changes that could have resulted in the improvement. Hopefully the improvements remain and we can finally put the lag behind us. I will be monitoring things as much as I can, but one of the most important things you can do is run a trace route via the command line.

There is a guide how to do so in the Bug Reports forum.

Must be nice - for me , the site has become nearly impossible to play. Taking turns easily takes three or four times longer. It took me over 5 minutes search the word "lagging" and load this quoted message to write this. I'm nearly at the point of just deadbeating everything and walking away after 8 years here. It is no longer enjoyable...and I can't imagine why any new players would join or stay if they have this happen to them.

Has anything with your browser, operating system or computer changed? It doesn't look like anyone else is suffering as much as you.

He doesn't per sé have to have changed anything. Maybe there's just an error or system clutter in his plugins. CC uses flashplayer, so maybe he should try other websites using flashplayer and see if he encounters same problem.

Wish it was something simple like that...same computer and OS for long time, and every other web site seems fine...will try to figure it out if no one else is lagging like this...

I am suffering as much as him/her.

The linked site says this: http://tools.pingdom.com/ping/?target=c ... id=8013532

I haven't got the technical knowledge to know whether this is good or bad, or even accurate, but the lag is unbearable and almost constant. The site times out all the time, and every movement is very slow. I know other players don't suffer it, but I do. Also, CC is the only site that lags this badly.

If the CC servers were struggling, everyone would be having this problem and this is clearly not happening. My connect is always pretty good along with a huge number of members.

So I really think that some folk need to look at their own set ups / connectivity. Do some housekeeping on their PC's, check their own internet speed using a speed checker (don't rely on the advertised speed), do you have enough RAM ? (I have to close and reopen my browser periodically if I have too many tabs open), is all your software up to date with the latest versions, scan for malware using Malwarebytes, try a different browser, run trace routes to see if there's an obvious upstream problem.

There are probably loads more things too.

I only play through my phone, most of the time with a 4g connection and its fine for me, don't think it's a site problem

Several users, including me, have clarified that nothing has changed in their systems themselves or Internet connectivity. Please stop assuming that because you don't experience a problem then the problem doesn't exist. Particularly if you only connect via a mobile phone while other people are reporting issues from different computers.

Things like this (dismissing real problems affecting several people) will only accentuate the dwindling of the site's population.

EDIT: Several of us have also pointed out that CC is the only site suffering from lag in our computers. No need to use an Internet speed checker or any of that nonsense.
