You do know that 80% of CC users are in North America right? It should be no surprise that at 3am on a Sunday night/Monday morning in the states that not many people are online.

Now surprise surprise, almost 9am on Monday morning and there are 400 users online. Yes we all know CC is been decling for awhile now, but stop acting like a Karen.

and still our 2 biggest competitors can only dream of having such numbers online at anytime.. not as dire as you might think. CC is still a very sustainable business.

yes, ofc, there are multiple time zones in N America. I live on the east coast, where it was 4:30 am when you made your last several posts about low users. Which meant for those in the continental US, most if not all of Canada, all of Mexico, and I believe half of South America as well (don't quote me on all of that besides the continental US part because I didn't look it up), it was either 1:30 am, 2:30 am, 3:30 am, or 4:30 am. I think maybe Nova Scotia might have been 5:30, so if any of the massive contingent of players from there are early risers, they might have been on.

But, regardless. And this should come as no surprise to basically anyone, xroads point remains and you're a freaking drama queen who is still butt-hurt about the deal with your tourney and is prepared to use anything, even the fact that traffic is low on the site when 80% of the client base is quite likely asleep to make a point.

Been a dying website for years, site hasn't improved in years. Without the volunteers it would have died a long time ago. Owner should be ashamed.

Very Accurate, all volunteers contribute something to CC. Even when they are horrific at it, they all at least try. And undoubtedly, extra costs with this number of paying customers would simply not be viable.

It's going to die if nothing changes. I made a really good suggestion earlier on in the thread. And given the Site is currently on borrowed time, the current owners have nothing to lose if there are simple changes to make.

These are snapshots, giving evidence of this stat at this time. More helpful is the TREND and the summation of similar data.

Just before I posted
In total there are 221 users online :: 164 registered and 57 hidden (based on users active over the past 15 minutes)
Most users ever online was 1287 on Tue Apr 21, 2020 4:04 pm

What does this prove?

A more nuanced discussion on the overall trend for CC is here:

For Players looking for a Speed Game during the quiet times on CC, say 10pm - 2pm CCT (16 Hours).

Unless you want to sit for 1/2 an hour at a time and await someone joining. You can always put 24 hour Games Up and hope a NON-PREMIUM joins it and RT's it out. Or look for a NON-PREMIUM who has recently posted a 2 Player game and hope they plan on RT'ing that out.

That's what I have been doing and most do. So it's worth a try if you are looking to play speed games during those hours.

I know, it's absolutely fucking desperate!

Are you calling yourself out for having a large foe list? I rarely wait 5 minutes for a game to fill, usually under a minute. No foe list.

IMO it has more to do with the timezone than a foe list; I have zero foe list and if I try to play a non-poly speed game before bed I rarely find one already open and it doesn't usually fill quickly if I make one. (Around 3AM CC time)

That said, I'm new enough to have no real standard of comparison for what the past was like, but I'm having a blast with my clan, the Super League, and a ton of other tournaments - especially flexmaster's sports themed tournaments with cool rulesets, and the auto-tournaments. I even am running my first tournament of my own! It'd be sweet if we could get bigger population so that we could have a larger player pool in the creative tournaments - and the TPA seems like it was sweet, too!

I'm not entirely sure what it takes to reach players like me who haven't joined yet - especially in terms of stuff mods can do - I'm a guy in his early 30s who doesn't have kids yet and works from home at least half the time, along with having somewhat flexible hours - with a passion for board games, retro gaming, and competition. I also grew up on other online forums set up like this one, so forums are second nature to me (unlike many of today's discord native kiddies who never had to deal with old forums of the 2010s). I heard a guy a little older than me mention this site on a discord when people were trying to play a game of risk over discord, checked it out, and got hooked. I actually vaguely remember one of my high school buddies printing out the World Cup 2010 map and us playing a game of risk IRL on it when I was in high school once I got here - though at the time he just said it was a thing he found on the internet. Long since lost touch with him; I should reach out and see how he's doing!

In any case, I'm not sure that my own experiences create a repeatable business model for bringing in more players/customers - and especially not one that comes without direct programming changes. Sure, a viable mobile app would help so people could assdoodle away from their bathroom break - but as I've gleaned from other forum threads we would start running into potential legal/copyright claims if we did that.

Clans can often be tight-knit communities here and in other games; letting people opt-in/opt-out from having their clan tag displayed everywhere they go on the site might help foster that sense of community? Same with tribes, perhaps? Series of tournaments building to a finale, or things like the TPA perhaps - especially with a way for more casual players to have it drawn to their attention more? I can brainstorm some suggestions too, but obviously we're all on this boat together and it's hard to know for sure which suggestions will and won't actually make an impact.

9.11am GMT

CC now not worth visiting unless it is in the 6-8 Hour Peak Times for North American Players.

We need to be attracting more players UGENTLY. I refer to my previous idea to do this. Site owners now have NOTHING TO LOSE by trying it!

Only 4 Users Above the LL TIME LOW of 122. Probably around 40-50 Freemiums would mean, 80 Paying Customers from a RISK playing Base of MILLIONS.

LOL, Touche!

"In total there are 135 users online :: 110 registered and 25 hidden (based on users active over the past 15 minutes)"

Took my 24 Hour Turns, updated Super Leagues, updated Survivor Series, read a couple of forums, completed all in 10 minutes. CC is now DEAD to me until USA wakes up and goes about it's daily business.

If you discount the hours of 11pm-5am CET when most Europeans are Sleeping. CC is STONE COLD DEAD until around 3PM. Realistically you have only 8 practical hours every day when the site has enough players on it to make it worth while logging on. If most of those hours don't suit you, it is a waste of time being on CC.

Quicker this can be addressed the better. GAMBLE. Open it up to Asian and African Players at vastly reduced prices and hope you attract them. IMO, current numbers are un-sustainable for a going concern.

Let's put this into perspective

When Conquer Club started back in 2006, another risk site also started, named LandGrab.
Similar set up to this site, with the game hanging on the back of a phpbb forum.
Let's look at there stats

Image

Most users online? Looks like less than the numbers you are worried about here, and that is the MOST they have ever had.. Currently showing as 7, all but me are bots.. The site still exists, and functions.

Good point, TeeGee. I think that a while back (3-5 years ago?) someone compared other Risk websites and, as I recall, Conquer Club was competitive with those other websites in terms of users and players.

As I said, the SKY is not falling, the Risk game is a limited market, and that market for this style of play is shrinking, and this game and this site is not attracting many young players. They want to play their video games. And this site still has a good number of players, many dedicated volunteers, many maps and settings, and MANY really good Risk players.

I have already given my ideas/suggestions for improvement for this website involving the cell phone in other threads and over the years.

Also, I got decent at checkers and the best website for that was a Polish website; I have not been there in some time. That is a really small market. I played a bit of chess online, and even used the USCF website for that. There are some really good players there, and that market is likely larger than for Risk.

Well, I guess, that's okay. Land Grab died before so it's perfectly fine for CC to go the same way. Mark my words 12 MONTHS MAX left. If it's going down, I at least want it to go down with a FIGHT.
