This guy must be lonely as hell to even keep this thread going.

Where's that dead horse picture I keep seeing when you need it.

I'm not sure if I'm alone on the gay front, or if hell is involved, but if you need to see horses being attacked to fulfill your dislike, Owen is your homeboy.

Seriously... what part of the very first response (riskllama's post) did you not understand... non or issue?

You're one of those people that needs something to be right about... a right-fighter, as I call it.

You're like that very annoying itch in the middle of your back you can't reach no matter how hard you try.

Get the the f*ck over it and move on already.

Mate, if you feel I'm an itch you can't scratch, and it seems that you're finding the thread lacking in satisfaction, perhaps a happy ending is not coming for you with me.

Perhaps you might take your own advice.

So, what would you suggest CC do to be more tolerant/inclusive of homosexuals on this site?

Better yet, what could YOU do to make homosexuals more welcome on this site?

An interesting question. I was generally thinking of this thread as asking for people's experiences in the past up till noe. I hadn't given much thought to the future, I'll give it a think.

Good contribution.

What are your thoughts?

Congratulations! Someone asked you a question relevant to your old thread! And you don't have an answer, what a shock. I can't believe I spent even a small portion of this thread engaging you rationally when I thought you might actually be gay. How naive!!

I guess what I'm trying to figure out is, what are you trying to understand or accomplish with this thread?

From the title, I ask, was CC not inclusive before?

To give you my opinion, which you asked for in your OP, I don't feel sexual orientation is a factor for players on this site. Everybody on this site is here for the common interest of playing "Risk". During the two stints that I have been on this site, I have not witnessed an instance where sexual preference made a difference in the outcomes of a games/tourneys or how somebody was treated in the forums. That is not to say that there isnt the occasional jerk who feels the need say offensive things about one's sexual preference, or even race, religion, ect. To that I feel that the general consensus of the community on this site frowns upon that behavior.

So to conclude I agree with riskllama from the beginning, this is a non issue. Although, this is the Discussion Forum, and you did ask to discuss peoples opinions on the topic. It just comes off as if you are trying to "stir the pot", that's all.

I have not always found it particularly inclusive in the past. Indeed, dissenting points of view are often labeled as trolls, and those who present them are somehow " pot stirrers", as you put it.

I've never understood that phrase, by the way.

I suppose, in answer to your main question, I don't think that I'm trying to accomplish anything here, other than trying to talk to other players on the site. I think that you're mostly referring to gameplay rather than the social side of the site though.

Would that be fair comment, JM?

How would you say it was not inclusive in the past? What was your experience?

The best description I could find on "to stir the pot": to proliferate the tension and drama between 2 or more feuding people/groups in public to get a rise out of people in hopes of starting drama or an uncomfortable conflict, sometimes for personal gain but oftentimes just for the thrill of confrontation.

I'm just trying to understand where you're coming from, that's all. So now we are talking :D

I meant the reasoning behind the phrase, sorry, I was not clear. Stirring a pot is usually a good idea. But anyway, I meant it as an aside, and apologise if it got us off topic.

I'm coming from a background where talking about being gay was taboo, both here and IRL.

I genuinely feel the site has gotten better.

If you think about it, we are all coming from a background where talking about homosexuality was taboo, and in a lot of ways it still is. It wasnt until this past decade where you started to see more social acceptance in certain areas.

I have always been active on the social side of this site in one degree or another. I more so stayed in the shadows on my first stint on the site, but was still peeking around in the forums. I am much more active in the forums since I had come back though. I may not comment on everything, but I'm out there in the forum abyss glancing at things here and there.

That's fair comment, and you're right that is a taboo subject for some still, I suppose. I'm opening myself up for trolling by answering your previous question, and saying that I received a ban for using the taboo word "gay", a point I challenged, and got it made no longer taboo.

This thread was intended to see if other people have seen change.

It has provoked hostility, but what change doesn't?

I don't know how the enforcement of banned words worked but not sure you did your cause any favours here -

I think this is the usage that the ban was intended to stop. Nothing much offends me, but I believe some consider this usage of "gay" considered offensive.

No I had no idea. I am not on the forums that much so some of these things go over my head.

So its clear now that ronc8469 or whoever he really is, agitated to get the word "gay" un banned so he could use it as a derogatory adjective.

So I would say this move has been a backward step in terms of making CC more homosexual friendly.

Ah- you were very unclear. You feel that by getting the word "gay" considered no longer taboo, I am somehow responsible for other people using it as an insult?

I disagree mate.

The idea of taboo words is beyond me. The way people react to certain "hot" words has always fascinated me. But that is a different discussion all together for me.

I think it's mainly social. A way of saying that something is unacceptable to the social group. Including someone in a group involves saying that an other should be excluded. Shared language is part of that.
