Could've been avoided with round limit. Hopefully round limits will prove to be the ultimate stalemate killer. Because of it I dare to play flat rates game again.

round limits are fine, but there is something to be said for those long games. i personally love them more than round limits... it brings diiplomacy into things. I remember a game on europe that i was in that went 700+ round and three years. I eventually won because someone suicided another guy because he got bored and didnt like the other player, or something to that effect. Because i was nice all game i got the win :D

in round limits i feel like if there are inexperienced players playing then the last round it sets them into random assault mode... cost me a couple games already they just whack into whoever looks like they have a slight chance of winning.

I think there definitely is some fun to long games without limits. I haven't been involved in many, but for the most part I found 'em enjoyable. This one of the great things about playing online---you can have games that go for so many and rounds...and so many days and years...the endurance factor can be an amusing and worthwhile addition to standard World Domination fun-fest-gaming

I'm in this nightmare: Game 9363848 which has made it about a quarter of the way up from the bottom on the second page of oldest active games. That may not sound like much, but when you consider that Antarctica is a 2011 map, it becomes more impressive. (The only other games on 2011 maps that are older are Baseball games, Baseball being more likely to stalemate than most maps.) But this is definitely the oldest active Antarctic game, and the oldest active game on any 2011 map other than Baseball.

In case this thread ever gets updated:
Date of initialization: July 9th, 2011
2011-07-09 13:07:03 - Game has been initialized

Current rounds, 317, and no end in sight.

Some games on the list aren't legitimate stalemates...just intentional build games.
