Why does no one here think necrobumping is weird?

Scenario 1:
Someone makes a new post about something that has been said already in 2013. Someone else complains and tells the OP to "use the search tool, it's there for a reason, this has alreeady been posted back in 2013 you noob"

Scenario 2:
Someone takes his time to search for a relevant post before doubleposting, and posts his opinion in the appropriate thread, OP gets flamed for 'necrobumping'. (Which i prefer to making a new thread, honestly).

Scenario 3:
Because either making a new post or bumping an old post will result in flames and critism, people decide everything has already been said and any addition to it will be flagged as spam or necro, so they decide not to post at all, leaving the forums empty. The only topics on the forums are now "Why is CC declining" and "why is no one using the forums?"

yeah... see... you would have a valid point had the poster that necro bumped it, had added anything to the subject... but they didn't... it was an ex volunteer trying to be funny, and as usual, falling well short (*sigh*)...

If there is a good, relevant thread on a subject, and you have something new to add, then by all means add it. Doesn't matter if the last post was five minutes ago or five years ago.

You can expect to be accused of necrobumping, but you can also safely ignore those accusations. Necro-bumping (as an actionable offense) is pretty narrowly defined. "Necrobumping (bringing dead forum topics back to life) if no new meaningful content is being added." (Forum Guidelines) If you have something to say about a subject, that is meaningful new content, so it is NOT necro-bumping in the actionable sense. Yeah, some people will accuse you of it, but they're wrong.

Thats not very narrowly defined. It basically implies that all meaningless comments are necro-bumping. Who can judge when a topic is dead! No-one has posted on this is well over 5 minutes, it must be dead.

Actually, I did read your post, but I thought it was nice enough on its own not to require any input from me. But if you insist...

Then again, you might not. Either way, it's not an intense concern of mine. I thought his joke was funny. Maybe you'd appreciate it more if you knew the full background. I'll fill you in if you wish, but I won't bother unless you actually want me to.

Actually, what is far more significant than the 2015 bump, is the 2011 bump. That was made by rdsrds2120, who at the time was Chief Global Moderator and in overall charge of enforcing the forum rules. He later became an admin even. The 2011 bump clearly implies agreement with what I said previously, that bumping an old thread is not, in and of itself, against the rules.

yeah... see... that is kind of a direct violation of the rule... has nothing to do with how i feel about him... i have no grudge against him... this mod squad is so interesting with the claims against me having grudges against mods, etc... driving mods to quit, etc... ridiculous... there is no grudge, we swap PM's on the regular and i find him enjoyable, even when he is breaking every forum rule known to the site... so, let me get this straight... when done with HUMOR, breaking site rules is ok... good to know!!!-Jésus noir

you guys really didn't think that we knew what was going on with the threads back then? you didn't think we knew that CC was prodding volunteers into being cheerleaders and pumping up benign threads that were much ado about nada? andy was not a mad genius, he was just the guy that destroyed the forums and perverted the community disciplinary thread/decision into a warped catch all for things like FORUM infractions... *MOD EDIT* the worst part about all that was, you guys weren't even remotely clever or funny or satirical. it was HURRAH CC!!! and that was about it... sigh...-Jésus noir
