It's a GOT and ASOIAF inspired map. Need i say more?

I want a GOT inspired map of Westeros and possibly Essos (partially) incorporated as well.

Before anyone starts, yes, I am aware that this has been attempted, and abandoned, numerous times before. I am aware of the copyright issues and other challenges. I don't care. I want a map based on GOT and I will not settle for less. I have no experience in mapmaking for this game, however I have created numerous well-received maps in plenty of other games. If anyone is willing to join me in this venture, especially anyone with experience, or supply me with ideas, feedback, or even previous drafts for this map, it would be much appreciated.

Shall we begin?

What will be your approach? Seek copyright permission or alter enough to get around copyrights

Obviously, the latter.

Sometimes it is easier to ask for forgiveness than to seek permission. Conquer Club is so far off of GoT's radar, even if you call it Game Of Thrones map and use all the real place and character names, they will never ever find out!

GoT was an enjoyable series of books, and even the TV version was well done.

However, there's nothing particularly interesting about the world. It was all pretty much borrowed either from the real world or from other fantasy lands. The North is Scotland, the Far North is cribbed from a variety of Germanic sources, the Lannisters are the Plantagenets, Dorne is Arabia, etc., etc., etc. Nothing about it is particularly unique, or even particularly well-constructed. Not knocking GoT as a cultural force. I did very much enjoy both the books and the TV series. But its power is in the narrative, not in the geography.

Did you spend several months editing that post until it was just right?
