Hey,
Inspired my Jota's excellent
Map Assistant and
Map Maker tools I thought I'd write something that should help too.
Announcing: Conquer Club: XML Map Reader
It allows you to see the links between countries easily. So, once you've created your XML and map, and just want to debug it, you can just pop them in there, and you'll be able to see if you've made all your connections correctly.
Hope it's useful to some of you map makers!
Notes:
I only own Flash MX 2004, so it currently only imports jpegs at the moment. I'll export it to Flash 8 so it can loads pngs & gifs when I'm in work in teh next few days. In the mean time, if you want to use it, then just upload a jpeg for testing purposes.

Thanks!
Also, I just realised it can be useful for general users too.
Just go to:
http://www.conquerclub.com/maps/ and get the XML and image addresses, if your not sure if something is connected or not, and you can check yourself.

The code is pretty quick and dirty. Just hit Refresh is you want to check another file. I might get a chance to make a better version in the future.

Looks like a great program. I couldn't get it to work for some reason on my map, though. My map showed up but none of the lines or dots appeared, even though I had already tested my XML alright.

Thats because you did a map of ancient greece and they didnt have fancy computer lines back then.

I've updated it slightly now:
- Should be able load all XML maps you throw at it (any trouble pm me)
- Can loads pngs & gifs too
- Can load new map without hitting refresh

MrConfigT, I was just switching hosts and stuff. It's back up now.
fluffybunnykins, yea, it was a rear projection system with 2 mirrors. Quite a pain to work out all the angles. You can see the setup here:

Very cool, but it would be even better for general users if we could hit your page and select the production map from a drop down instead of having to type or paste file names.

I'd like to echo Fantius' suggestion. That would be a great upgrade to this. In addition, when I use the World 2.0 map, it cuts off the right side.

Is there any way to get this functionality in the game itself?

I think it might make the map in the game a little busy... but when you click on the small icon of the map, this handy dandy doodad should pop up instead of the current icon.
Seems to have a bug in it for larger maps, like arctic and world2.0
