Here is a new series by Sir. Ricco. Send your ideas his way.
Championship series
Organizer: barterer2002
Overall rating:
Creativity:
Enjoyment:
Enjoyment was rated by 26 players that have played the tournament
The championship series is designed to be full of fast, hard-hitting tournaments. barterer2002 will try to make his way trough all the maps less time expires. He’s already blown his way through Classic, 8 Thoughts, Africa, Age of Merchants, AOR1, AOR2, AOR3, Alexander's Empire, American Civil War, Ancient Greece, Arctic, Australia. He has designated over 11 different players as champions including Godd, garnering two victories, BaldAdonis, Bonobo, dtellis, keiths31, magneto_acolyte, killmanic, barbieB, ParadiceCity9, Jackofalltrades, and himself. He has many more planned so be on the alert for Berlin 1961 and Cairns Coral Coast.
What it lacks in creativity it makes up in speed. The series averages about one month per tournament. With its simple bracket game play, it is the perfected tournament series for the new tournament players to get their feet wet, and the most harden tournament veterans to test there skill. “I love the concept, it's fitting for me since I like 1v1 games a lot,” Say ParadiceCity9, “after you win your first round games it gets really exciting, knowing that if you win you get to an even deeper round.”
Brackets are fun to play and run, and when you put a good series on, then you got it made. barterer2002 proves that you must not only be creative but put a lot of effort in to it. The players a raving about how well it has been organized; “…exceptionally well-organized and knows how to put on a good competition,” tiberiusaquila. “…he's almost always very quick to post updates, correct any errors, help out new players, and his scoring system is very easy to follow,” peanutsdad. “…run smoothly and efficiently.” freyme.
After write this article I decided to sit down with barterer2002 and see what he had to say.
“Well I'm been thinking of creating my own franchise for about 6 months now.” barterer2002 says after I asked why he started it.
Moving on to deeper questions I asked “Have you enjoyed running it?”
“I have…the Championship series I've got about 8 running at a time and there is rarely any down time.” barterer2002 reply. He goes on to say, “Almost every day has me creating games and pushing along one or the other of them which is a part of the process that I enjoy. So the Championship Series feeds that need of mine-to progress things through from birth to champion…”
“Is there anything you would like to do different?”
“I’m pretty happy with how they're currently running. I've toyed with the idea of doing them three at a time rather than 2 at a time but for the time being I'm going to stick with things as they are.”
“Is there anything you thought would go different before you started running it?”
“I actually surprised at how well things have run. The best part about it from my point of view is that we've had 11 different winners from the 12 that have completed so far. I had expected to see more multiple winners but so far only Godd has managed multiple wins.”
Two time winner Godd has this to say, “…I would like to see more of these style tourneys ran for they are well organized and smooth” Well maybe you get your wish but that’s all for now. So be no the look out for the next ones in the series.
