Map Foundry Gone Wild!
The Map Foundry has been running hot lately! Maps are coming out faster than a rabbit on crack! There have been all kinds of maps coming out, from Treasures of Galapagos to Iceland to Egypt: Upper.
Did you by mistake miss a map? Well then, keep on reading and you might get enlightened!
The reason new maps has been coming out so fast lately is a change in work pace, done by Lackattack, the site owner, who changed from large updates with lots of maps at once to small updates with one at the time. This change has become a great success, all players who has been longing for map for weeks, maybe months
will not have to wait longer than a few days now! But really, what new maps have come? Let's have a look.
Iceland
The first map of this new map frenzy is Iceland. A map of the country of Iceland, by RjBeals.
All the 36 territories are named exactly as they are in the Icelandic language. Which has been reported to be annoying for some, but entertaining and educating by others. It's sure to become a favorite map for many ConquerClub players.
This map came in use for a couple of tournaments just a day or two after it came out.
It's been chosen as the final's for the "Final Point Grabbers" by Optimus Prime, and in "Foundary Update 4.0" by Natewolfman.
High Seas
Water covers 2/3's of the Worlds area, so here is a map where you fight at sea. This 16th
century inspired map was made by Oaktown. Oaktown really took in the 16th century in the map and you really get the vibe that this is how the world looked like in a time of World Sailing.
The pictures which catches your eyes around the map is early 16th century engravings by Albrecht Durer, a German painter who's watercolour paintings mark him as one of the first European landscape artists.
High Seas is a classic gameplay map, with no gimmicks or tricky rules. Which makes it great for anyone to play.
Egypt: Lower
A map inspired by Ancient Egypt, made by the huge map maker cairnswk, who has a total of 18 (!) maps quenched!
As you look at the map, what catches your eye is the Sphinx. A Sphinx is a mythological figure, which is depicted as a lion with a human head. The river that catches your eye is the River Nile, which the Egyptians were very dependent upon to survive in ancient Egypt. The map is quite normal gameplay, but with a little twist. The Egyptian Cities gives a 1 army
autodeploy each round. This gives the map unique tactics and tricks to use. The map has quickly become a hit to speed gamers, as cairnswk forsaw before the map even got out to play.
Those who like the map, and other maps in the Egypt Series should check out the tournament "A Trip up the Nile".
Sydney Metro
Another map made by cairnswk. Map made from the City of Sydney and it's public transportation, as in buses and ferries. The map has a lot of small countries with big bonuses, but with all the different connections between the territories it makes it difficult to hold them. The different territory names are as they are called in Sydney, which actually gives you some fun facts about the city of Sydney. Also, the famous Opera House got a picture in the maps legend.
Treasures of Galapagos
Yet another map by cairnswk. The map comes from the Island of Galapagos, which is located east of Ecuador in South America.
You start off in a Diving Reef. The key to the map is capturing Luggers, Fresh Water and Treasures, all giving bonuses. The Lugger and Fresh Water gives you a bonus for each Diving Reef you own. So the more reefs, the more bonus per Lugger/Fresh Water you
receive.
The map has had a few problems. Many has complained about the map being unbalanced. However, the map has been changed and is under change as this is getting written. So a final edition with even balance perhaps isn't far away.
Egypt: Upper
Guess who made this map? Yes, you are correct. carinswk!
The map is quite similar to Egypt: Upper. It has the 1 army auto-deploy on the cities as well. However, it's very unique in one way.
The left side of the map sits atop the right side. It's a very clever way to make a long thin map work in the image size which is required for maps here on ConquerClub. The Nile is present in this map as well and also the boats which helps you travel across the
river.
Check out the new batch of maps, started by WidowMakers specifically for tournaments. Come and give him some support, he’s giving it to you by making tournament-specific maps! USA 6 Region Pack

This week we sat down for an interview with Luxurious.
Next week, our interview will be with the player and organiser, MEK. If you have any questions you can go post them in this thread.
Now, on with the interview!
Q: Hello, Luxurious.
A: Why, hello there.
Q:How did you find this website?
A: I signed up after Optimus Prime, my husband, wouldn't stop talking about CC for about 35 days straight.
Q: Why did you join CC? What besides OP made you start playing?
A: I joined CC to take part in a hobby that my husband really loved, but I stayed because I found a clan that I love!
Q:Why did you start to play tournaments?
A: I think Optimus bullied me into joining one or two of his.
Q: Describe the experience of your first tournament played in.
A: Transformer Wars was my first tournament; my brother-in-law rallison was my doubles partner and we got clobbered. But, the bracket we were in was named after me (I think), so it was all good.
Q: What is your favorite tournament you've played in? Why?
A: I loved playing in "The Office" tournament, set up by Optimus at my request. British Isles is my favorite map and "The Office" is my favorite television show!
Q: Overall, are you playing a lot in tournaments? If not, then why and where do you find your games to play?
A: I am really picky about tournaments, because I am not really too fond of anything complicated - be it maps or the scoring system. So, I'm not playing in near as many tournaments as I should. Most of the games I play are with friends in my clan - Generation One - or 1v1 with my husband.
Q: How excited were you with your first CC win?
A: I was thrilled, because one of the guys I defeated was a royal pain in the booty. And every win since then reminds me of how much I dislike that kid.
Q:Have you ever won a tournament?
A: I have not, though I did make it to the finals of Gozar's Battle Europe II tournament.
Q: What is your most disappointing tournament loss to date?
A: I think it was when Wicked eliminated me from "The Office" tournament - she was a jerk about it.
Q: In your mind, what makes a successful tournament?
A: A successful tournament is one that I don't hear about - meaning, if my husband or his trusty sidekick Night Strike don't moan to me about the ills of a particular tournament or tournament organizer, then I think it is one that is well-done.
Q: If you could change one thing about Conquer Club in general, what would it be?
A: I feel really comfortable with most elements of CC that I encounter, though I really dislike the mean nature of some of the people in the forums.
Q:How much time does CC take from your day?
A: For my personal CCing, upwards of half an hour. But, in terms of how much I am surrounded by CC, it could be anywhere from 6 hours to the whole day; this really depends on how many tournament ideas Optimus has or how backed up he becomes on all of his CC projects, and Optimus needs a sounding board for all of his thoughts.
Q:Are you a member of any clans or usergroups?
A: I am in the clan Generation One, with a bunch of the best tournament organizers on the site!
Q:That being said, don't you think you should organize a tournament to fit in with us?
A: I feel no pressure to do it, because I know that my friends in that clan will like me no matter what.
Q:Why did you pick the name Luxurious?
A: It is from my email address from my freshman year of college - I was really into heightening my girly-ness.
Q:Where are you from?
A: I am originally from southern California, but I currently go to school in Utah.
Q:Favourite play colour?
A: I don't have a favorite, as long as I get to go first.
Q:Who is your favorite tournament organizer (excluding yourself)?
A: My favorite tournament organizer has to be Gozar - he makes my favorite kinds of tournaments and he is really laid back.
Q:Who is your favorite tournament director?
A: Though I am quite fond of Steelhorse, because he is so nice to me, I'll have to choose Optimus Prime, since I am carrying his baby. No, Optimus has put so much work into this site, for tournament directing in particular. He would eat, sleep and live CC tournaments, if I let him!
Q:As the significant other of a top TO, what are the frustrating things from that side of the table. Does it take time away from you? Does he wake you up at night to tell you of this great new tournament he just thought of? Do you hear him muttering about people deadbeating in tournament games while he sleeps?
A: The frustrating things about being married to a TO definitely run the gamut - from having to sit down and having multiple serious discussions about how many tournaments Optimus can really handle to zoning when trying to listen to all of the different ways to score or bracket tournaments. But, it is completely worth it, because he loves it and it's been something that has ultimately brought us closer together.
Q:How do you feel being Mrs. Optimus Prime?
A: I feel pretty good about it most days, though there are admittedly some hard days. Especially when I feel like I want to defend him somewhere on the site, I have to fight back the urge because I know he would hate it.
Q:Favourite and least favourite map?
A: My favorite map is British Isles, and my least favorite map that I've played is Age of Realms... the icey version.
Q:Favourite settings?
A: As long as it's not foggy or freestyle, I like it.
Q:Freestyle or sequential?
A: Sequential!
Q: Who are you favorite opponents to play against?
A: My favorite opponents to play are BaldAdonis, Natewolfman, and barterer2002. I also love to eliminate Night Strike whenever possible.
Q:OP's rank has skyrocketed since he went on a break.
Can I get you to cover my account when I go on vacation next month?
A: I wish I could take credit for his rank, but since I'm not a mod in any capacity, I wasn't allowed to babysit his account. I would love to babysit for anyone who needs me to, but I warn you that there are probably more qualified people to take your turns, I promise.
Q:Any parting shots?
A: I want to reiterate how much I like to embarrass and hound Night Strike whenever possible, and I encourage the whole tournament community to join me - it's fun!
Q: Thanks a million, Lux.
A: Oh, thank you. Taking time out to interview a non-TO is a cool thing for you guys to do.
Interview with MEK MEK will answer your questions in our tournament interview series.
