I can think of better uses of my CC programming time. Not to mention I don't store data behind rank promotion history.

Timeline for your points

I was just thinking. I actually got my points close to 1400 at one point. But now i'm back down to almost 1000
Wouldn't it be cool if the game keeps track of your points (every time you gain/lose them) and show them as a graph. Then you can see how well you've played, your streaks, etc. And maybe you can do a comparision chart as well

I'd like to see this as it would provide a far better indicator of a player's skill than the current score, which is little more than a marker of recent success. However, it has been suggested before and Lack was not keen.

The issue is server storage. If it were my game, I wouldn't want to store all that data... but, what about a Record High and Record Low?

I think it would be cool, but I agree its too much data to store. If you really want it you could record it all yourself

Hmm i doubt there would be a storage issue. All the data would be text only. Plus with every single game already storing the game log, adding this wouldn't be that much more data.

But alas, he gets the final say

record high and low is much more reasonable. but since i don't have historical data, it would only be accurate for future members.

Technically, it can be done...
Pretty much, to get a timeline for everyone's points, you'd have to get the game log of every game they've ever played and by looking at timestamps, you can effectively chart out the data. It'd be a mess and would need to be automated, but it's doable.
lack, is the game log available in XML format? It'd be much more efficient to graph everyone's movement through the rankings by grabbing XML data so that the entire game doesn't have to be loaded... I'm sure it'd drive you up the wall if someone was running a script/program that accessed 100+ games in rapid succession. Especially if it were being done by more than one person.
Although you could just obtain the historical data yourself by modifying the site's code to log any points gained/lost by anyone and then doing a one-time run through of all 70k-ish games in the system and combing through the game logs for points data and putting that into the database as a starting point. Of course, you'd need to announce that you're taing down the site for however long it takes to ensure that no one is in the middle of their turn... don't allow people to start a turn within an hour of the process starting... etc. It'd be a pain, but it could be done.
And did I mention that I'd LOVE some XML data?

GameLog 2.0 will be included in the next update and it's chock full of XML

Here's how to do it.
1. Go to eBay.
2. Buy a copy of Microsoft Excel
3. Install it.
4. Start a new spreasheet.
5. Go to Tools->Options and disable "Startup Task Pane", click the General tab and change "Sheets in new workbook" to 1. (Both are pet peeves).
6. Create a column called Game Number
7. Create a column called Points Gained/Lost
8. Create a colum called Total Points.
9. Start keeping a log of your results in that Spreadsheet.
10. Click Insert->Chart
11. Follow the Wizard

also, what about a stat of best map and worst map, showing the map with ur best winning percentage and ur worst. EX: if i played 3 games on Nrth America and won all of them, my best map would be North America. if i played 2 games in Hong Kong and lost all of them, it would be my worst map.

Easy for me, my record low is 1000 points :)

N0g is right... you can do this all yourself. As far as I'm aware, games aren't purged, so go to the game finder, search for finished games that you are in. Then go through each one and pull out whatever stats you want... points, wins, losses, maps, style, record vs specific player...
Player Stats having a bar type graph to show up and down

I did a search and did not see exactly this, but did see some ideas along the ling of more stats and info for players or their playing history.
On the player info page a bar graph showing the up and down movement as your point score goes up and down.
------
-----___----
----______
Kind of like the rough suggestion above. It would be nice to glance and see how you are doing.
It would enhance over all game play with having more info on how you are doing. Whether you are getting better, or worse.
Priority 2-3 ?
I play online chess at a site named Redhotpawn.com, sounds porno, but its not. On your player info page you see a Bar Graph of all your games. Its great. You not only see how you are doing, you can see if your opponent is on a winning streak, or in a slump.
Just me little idea. Hope I'm not repeating and filled this out correctly.
Thanks, Windparson

Nice, maybe Lack will let you design and code it. I was thinking, I could take my points and and use Excel to make a graph. I'm just to lazy.
