I'll give it a try.
Got into powermetal about 10-12 years ago, eventually moved on to death, black, folk, while cruising the heavy/thrash scene too. Last few years I havn't listen to exclusively metal anymore, prefering 60s-80's classics, but, metal has been a huge part of my life for a very large part of my life
Seen about 150 major bands on stage, as well as countless non-signed bands in my youth. (lol listen to me, I'm turning 27 and already talking about "in my youth"... )

I'll join.

I started off with the basics, stuff like Metallica, etc. A few years back I moved on to Melodic Death Metal, which in turn led to Folk Metal/Viking Metal, stuff like that.

About the best band I can post here is Kalmah. They're a Finnish Melodic Death Metal band. I haven't heard a single one of their songs that I didn't like yet.




I also like the screamo type stuff too, though. One of my favorite bands of that type is Light This City, a now defunct band with a female lead singer(screamer).




Anyway, I don't exclusively listen to metal, but it is a pretty big chunk of the music that I do listen to. I'd like in. Thanks.
