Conquer Club

We are a group on CC that loves to play chess! We will have a ladder (ranks 1-10 at the start, hopefully more will join us). Anyone is welcome to join so long as you enjoy the game of chess! This will be a closed group, only because we would like to keep track of those who enter, so we can add them to the board . We will play chess at http://www.chess.com

On another note, even though I enjoy chess and have been playing for quite a while in my life, apparently I'm not that good. I've lost my first 3 matches and am now ranked in the 800-900 range.

Also, shouldn't this probably be in Callouts under the Create/Join a Usergroup forum? It's not really a clan, is it? Just curious.

I go to irl chess club twice a week and rating has nothing to do with your enjoyment of chess. This group is for people who enjoy playing, like yourself, regardless of rating. I can envision there being threads about strategies and stuff on how to get better but there's no way I would be part of a chess group that was 'elitist' or only for people of a certain rating, as that in my opinion goes against the spirit of what chess represents.

Remember the 1 competitive clan rule, so you can't be in RotS if you're in this as a competitive clan?

This isn't competitive. They are going to move it, I think.

Yeah, I wouldn't join if it was like that either, mainly because they wouldn't let me join, since I can't keep that kind of rating.

So are you guys playing over there already? If so, could I get your usernames so I can add you guys as friends? Then if we're online at the same time we can play a game together. Or we could arrange a time to be online...whatevs.

That works. Anybody else is free to do the same.

Or, if you want to just add me as a friend over there, I use the same username there that I use here.

i'm on chess.com now, but i usually play on chessclub.com (not a free site)

Anyone know if we need 10 (like a clan) people to make this? Or can we just get going?

i am 100 percent up for joining this group... i love chess but non of my family like the game so have not played for years.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure we need at least 10 to get the usergroup and the forum.

I'll join too, there's a lot of time I haven't played chess seriously, and I need to get back.

BTW, there's another page, where you can play (for free) non-rt chess. The same as CC (well there's no premium, and only one setting, normal chess, but you can choose the time or for the overall game or by turns)
