WOTW 18 - 12 The Regulators FINAL

The Warlords of the Wort have challenged the Regulators to a clan war. The Regulators have graciously agreed. The format is: 30 total games, 10 doubles, 10 triples, 10 quads. Each clan sets up half the games. Any map, any settings except speed and freestyle.

Hey everybody. I finally updated the scoreboard. Sorry, I was out of town working a 75 hour work week. Didn't have time for anything except taking turns. All tied up for the moment. Good war so far.

Thanks to the Regulators for being patient while us drunks prepared to play.

And so it came to pass that in the late fall, the Warlords of the Wort were returning from a clan war with the Legion of the Damned. The Warlords had passed from the bleak landscape of the Damned territory, into more hospitable surroundings. The trees bore leaves, albeit fall leaves that shone crimson, yellow and orange in the autumn sun. The water here ran clear and cool. And it was in these woods that the Warlords saw their first signs of upcoming trouble. Cheyco noticed a symbol, carved into a tree. It bore the image of a demon, holding a mug of beer. At first he and Backglass admired the carving. but as they traveled onward, it became apparent that the carvings were not innocent graffiti, but boundary markers. The Warlords decided to stop for the afternoon and set up camp.

The Warlords formed groups and traveled out a few hundred yards from camp. The forest floor was damp from recent rain, and the fallen leaves were brilliant as the sun shone through the partially defoliated trees. All was quiet, except for the occasional squirrel or chipmunk scurrying through the leaves. Andre and Cheyco were scanning a small ravine when they appeared. Two of the Regulators came into view and rode their horses directly towards the Warlords. One of the men bore the decorations of an obvious leader. Without any fanfare, the Regulators rode up, drew their swords, and attacked the Warlords. Andre and Cheyco, never ones to let their guard down, countered with blows of their own. The clanging of sword on shield alerted the other Warlords that an enemy had been found, but at that moment, they were all simultaneously engaged in battle as well. Vorm quickly grabbed the battle horn and sounded a couple notes before grabbing his axe and entering the fray. All of the Warlords heard the horn and knew that it meant to close the gap between them so they could support each other. Andre and Cheyco were quickly overpowered and had to withdraw, but elsewhere, the Warlords were battling back. Within a half hour, the Warlords and the Regulators were concentrated on the edge of a large grassy clearing. The battles raged in and out of the woods. it became apparent that nobody had the upper hand. But it was early in the battle....

The battle became more fierce. The Warlords, fresh from their battle with the Damned were fighting well. Several of the Regulators were knocked out of the battle early, and for the moment, it seemed that the Warlords would be able to repel the Regulator's attacks with relative ease.

Andre and Iz Man were fighting, backs to one another. They were warding off blows from Shrinky and DARCOGOAL. Andre raised his shield to block a blow, turned his head towards Iz Man and said, "This is quite the spirited battle. I wonder... who the F@#k are these guys?" Iz shouted back, "I dunno, but they seem pretty pissed off!" DARCOGOAL heard this and becamed enraged. "You mean to tell me that you've never heard of the Regulators!?" He once again crashed his sword down on Andre's shield. Chowdah chimed in from a few yards away. "Oh yeah, I've heard of you... I heard you fight like women!" A violent series of blows struck vorm and knocked him to the ground. He continued defending himself and shouted, "Chowdah, That isn't helping!" Andre pointed and yelled, "it looks like they are pushing in on the left flank! tcichon, see if you can shore it up a bit."
tcichon began fighting his way through the fray to help brooksie and Greycloak. The battle was becoming chaotic, and it was unclear whether the Warlords would be victorious, or if the Regulators would fight their way back. Nobody was ready to give up yet, and the day was far from over.

The battles were beginning to wind down. Horses wandered, riderless, through the smoke filled forest. The clanging of swords and shields grew softer as the warriors tired. The Regulators had battled their way back to near parity, only to have the Warlords fight with even more purpose. tcichon turned to Brooksie and said, "You know, next time I suggest that we go on some foolhardy adventure, remind me of this little escapade, will ya?" Brooksie laughed. Iz Man took another slash at his opponent before chiming in, "adventure is one thing, but this seems too much like work." Chowdah heard this and yelled, "Yeah, less fighting, more drinking. Isn't that the clan motto?" Iz Man shouted back, "I dunno, look at Andre over there, he's on a rampage. I think he's eliminated 5-6 of the regulators in the last few minutes." Andre heard the comment and growled to Redfelt, (one of his opponents) "Do your clan-mates ever leave you to do all the dirty work?" There was another crash of sword against shield, then Redfelt answered, "Yeah, I get my share of it. Its a tough job, but someone's got to do it." Andre responded, "too bad we're not playing terminator!" Redfelt laughed, but continued fighting. His armor was covered with earth and blood, his own, and that of his opponents.

The sun was sinking low, and darkness was drawing near. Those warriors who were finished sat on the sidelines and watched as their clan-mates continued to fight for honor.

Game #3499652 is a win for the Warlords.

Warlords clinch the series with a few games left to play out. Good series Regulators.
