I just saw this in a game and I think it should be changed.
Person 1 had Three cards and then eliminated person 2 who also had three cards. So person 1 now has six cards so he has to trade a set in. But with these six cards he actaully has 2 sets of matches so he is then able to cash both sets in at the same time resulting in quite a few men.
I think that you should only be able to cash in one set. That would put you below 5 cards in your hand and then they could trade them in next turn.
Did I explain that so you can understand it? And what do you think?

he has it set just like real risk rules... if u have 6 u may trade in 2 and if u have 9 or more u can trade in 3 its the way its always been

i have to agree that thats always how the game has been played but i have always found it interesting that you can turn in double sets and yet if you have one card and take a person with 3 and that gives you a set you cant turn in. I might be mistaken though..
I like the way it is now though. No complaints here

Looking at the rules here
http://boardgames.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?zi=1/XJ&sdn=boardgames&zu=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.hasbro.com%2Fcommon%2Finstruct%2FRisk1999.PDF
it says
"If winning them gives you 6 or more cards, you must immediatly trade in enough sets to reduce your hand to 4 or fewer cards, but once your hand is reduced to 4,3, or 2 cards you must stop trading."

your r both correct as for takeing a person out with 3 and u have 1 theres no trade in.... and as for new risk rules that is how it is writtin i forgot all about that but the original states that after takeing a player if u collect up to and includeing 5 cards u may trade in as many sets as possible

Ok highborn I guess if we played by the 1975 rules you would be right but I think that we should be playing by the more current rule set.

I believe this is a difference between older rules and newer rules of a certain board games that is similar to conquer club. If someone wants to start a poll about post-elimination set rules then I'd be curious to see if there is a clear majority on the issue. I guess the way it is now is a bit inconsistent with beggining-of-turn set rules.
