Replace the outdated IM fields on the user profile




The contact info fields in the profile are super outdated.

Yahoo Messenger doesn't exist anymore.
MSN profiles were merged into Skype several years ago.
AIM no longer exists and has been shut down since 2017.

Jabber and ICQ still exist, at the very least, and maybe some older members still use them. I don't know how popular those are.

I'm not sure what you'd replace them with, but I guess that would be up to members to chime in and say what they use nowadays.

WhatsApp and Facebook are a bit personal to put up publicly on a site where people use anonymous usernames? I keep those for friends and family only. One requires your phone number to be shared and the other is filled with personal info. I would advise against that given the potential for trolling beyond CC, and there's not a whole lot CC can do if that happens. Afterall, it's ill advised to use your real name as your CC name.

I think the defunct ones probably should be replaced with modern messenger apps that people can still remain semi-anon on (if they choose to) like:

WeChat
Discord
Skype
Telegram

I personally use Discord and Skype, but Discord the most for online stuff since it caters more toward gamers.

Sure, but something like instagram or snapchat isn't all that useful when it comes to wanting to contact someone over a game running low on time, or something like that. Those are mainly image sites, so there needs to be some alternative chat clients in there that people use atm. Although, admittedly, I've never used snapchat.
