Fortification Task/Cost

Concise description:
  • This interesting game option would ask players to pay a cost of one single unit for each territory between reinforcing and reinforced territories.
  • Example: Assume a player wants to reinforce his/her stack from territory A to B. The shortest path for this reinforcement, how many territories to pass through is the cost of this particular reinforcement which player is going to pay this cost from his/her stack that will lose that many units automatically at the end of reinforcement..

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • This new setting might bring a deeper mathematics for core strategist players i believe.

O:)

From which territory would the payment come from? The one you are forting from?

What if you want to fort only 1 troop?

I like this idea; if you want to fort, whatever you fort decays by 1 (probably a limit like chained, otherwise you could abuse/kill yourself with unlimited).

Another neat option on the same lines would be a map that has decay on all territories, every turn. 'Diseased' map, where 1 troop off each territory dies each turn, and if you only have 1, it becomes a neutral, but that's for another thread on another day.

If reinforcing and reinforced territories are adjacent, reinforcing one does not lose any.
If reinforcing and reinforced territories are not adjacent but say there is a single territory to pass through between them, then you have to reinforce 1 more unit than u want to reinforce since 1 unit will be reinforcement cost for this particular one.

Lets assume; territories are A - B - C- D ... You want to reinforce from A to D, 2 territories to pass through from A to D, therefore cost of fortification is going to be 2 units. In this case you have to reinforce 4 units from A if you want to have D reinforced by 2 units. Something like this.

Answer to your question now; if you like to have target territory be reinforced 1 unit, you have to reinforce 1+territory count (hop count) from the territory you are reinforcing m8.

decays by 1 per territory you reinforce...

in the case of unlimited, you may reinforce ur troops adjacently, still unlimited but adjacently every round, this way you do not lose any troops.
this mechanism discourages long distance reinforcements but does not fully disables it as long as you are fine with the payment. :)
