Why inbox so small yet can read chat from games 7 years ago

Feel free to point me to where this has been discussed. I searched in this forum but inbox and other keywords added to it show up in many threads

I've always wondered why the inbox space is limited to 50 messages while so much useless info is stored. Don't get me wrong, I think it is very cool that I can go back and read chat from maybe the first time I played someone years ago. Or go through the log of every single game on the site. I'm not being sarcastic. But I am more likely to actually *need* to pull some info from an old message that has disappeared. If you are in a clan, you know how quickly the inbox fills up.

Yes, if it was *really* that important to me our clan would just take to gmail, but I've always just been curious why save endless amount of data that has little to no chance of ever being accessed yet limit a very useful function.

You can use folders in the inbox and expand beyond the 50

oh well lookee there thanks. Suggestion still stands though. Expand a more useful function by default so dumbasses like me don't spend years wondering where my friends passwords went haha. As a result, I now have a notepad file full of so many passwords, I could shoot to conqueror and get banned... all in a single day!!

That still makes it only 200, because there is a max on folders. 200 is a lot better than 50, especially if you use them as a single inbox folder, but the discrepancy is still there.

One of the perks of mod team is a bigger inbox, so there's that.

Yeah I would much rather have a restricted wall size and get a larger inbox. Even with folders & filtering, I constantly max out. Then you see guys w 1,000 pages on their wall...

My main folder, just the inbox folder, currently goes back as far as... 25th of October. Slightly more than 2 weeks. Truth be told I dont filter and dont really delete stuff, but I find myself sometimes in a precarious situation when I discover I did not save a specific PM.

Yep Ltrain has a good point there!
This limitation for 50 PMs just looks like a sort of incentive to keep the personal messages to a low level.

And don't get me started about "useless stuff" around....I mean have you ever looked inside the "OFF-Topic" area of the forum? :))...Just that thread with 2000 something pages amounts to the complete sets of inboxes of every CC player at any given time.

Anyway.... since I do have the same issue (probably common to all the clans around) I've started to use the "Export to XML" feature. There's an action at the bottom of the list of all our folders. So keeping the archive in files that I sometimes aggregate.

For the purpuse of making the messages a little bit readable I have transformed the xml markings into rss feed and use a rss reader desktop app for them. But that's a bit of work to be done in order to achieve that...

If you're getting admin messages for those beginner games, filter them to an "admin" folder. That way you'll have more important messages for longer. That's what I do anyway.
