Ok well Paco, JDV4, MightyMax, and I have been thinking and well, ok actually it was more like just Paco and I but still, the point is we thought wouldn't it be awsome if we could have a risk game where each person had a capital that they placed in one of their countries. The capital would by default have a defensive army (a.k.a. can not attack) of 10. Then like if your capital was captured you could revolt and try to take it back. Also like if you take over a capital the army to who that capital belongs to becomes subservient to you. We still havn't figured out all the bugs in it, but we tried it before wtih 5 players and it went pretty well.
Ideas?
Hatered?
Love?
Stupid?
Don't Care?
Tell us what you think of the idea

its kind of like the subset game in the directions of risk, where you have to defend, except when you take their capital, you ake everything, troops and all.

ok Mauddib, first I want to say that the last time we tried that, you all cheated on me, so it didn't go that well. I don know if the Capital thing would work online, cause capitals makes the game shorter and rolling the dice does take long.

Ok first off we didn't cheat you, we just didn't have the rules set correctly. So THERE! *nahhh*

Capitals would be cool, but if your capital falls you should be out of the game. No "revolt", no taking your capital back because then it's really nothing but a country that you can't attack from.
Also: a capital should have the ability to defend with three dice even when it doesn't have three strength. That'd be a cool little feature to hammer home how defensive it is.
HQ Option (Capital Game Type)

this was in the original risk and i was surprised when i didnt see it in here. for those who dont understand here is how i could work
1.on the first turn a player can choose a territory to be their "base"
2.the goal of the game would be to protect your base while destroying the other players bases.
3.the other players dont know your base.
(this rule i think can be altered) once you capture an oppents base you get all of his territorys or they could just become neutral
feel free to give input.

one word: option, maybe
ok that's two words but you get the idea.
And I didn't actually bother reading every post, but in case it's still not clear. In a game with capitals you do NOT lose all your armies if you lose your capital. You only lose all your armies on the continent where your capital is.
Armies on other continents remain under your control.
Suggestion: Head Quarters Option

At the beginning of the game you have to pick one of your countries that will become your Head Quarters.
Other players will not know where your HQ is located.
When an enemy conquers your HQ you lose and s/he will take all your countries

It would be very difficult in the beginning to defend your capital when your areas are spread out. I don't like it because of that. If you made it for only 3 or 4 people it might work though.
bases

I thought a couple of days ago:idea:: Wouldn't it be a good idea to create a new game type, one with bases.
Let's explain, first I want to say that it wasn't my idea.
the game is just like the normal game, BUT at the beginning of each game, everyone gets 1 or 2 random chosen bases.
now the aim of the game is different, you have to conquer the bases of your opponents.
If you're the only one with bases left, you'va won the game!
It looks like a good idea to me but... It's hard to make the game type

Suggestion: Capitols

Capitol Risk anyone?
Each player designates their base country prior to the start of the first move of the game and you get 2 additional armies on that country.
Defensive bonus of +1 to the smallest dice thrown.
Players are still in the game if they lose their own capitol.
To win, a player must aquire all but one enemy capitols plus hold your own capitol.
All capitol games should be played with escalating bonuses to keep games moving.
Thoughts? Additional suggested rules for this game type are welcome as I'm sure I'm not the only one who has played this game type.
