"Zoom to yourself" on scoreboard

Concise description
  • A button on the scoreboard that would say something like "Zoom to myself" and would take you directly to the page of the scoreboard that you are on, and highlight the line that you are on.
  • The "Score" number on your profile would do the same thing.
  • The scoreboard would have an Ordinal value as well as a Cardinal value for your score (2175th, for example.)

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • Everyone is curious to see how they stand on the scoreboard; that's only natural. If you're in the Top 20 or whatever, I'm sure it's pretty easy to have a look, but if you're an average player like me and usually mired on page 15, it's a daunting task. Not only does it take a while to click through to page 15 and find your approximate score range, but it's even difficult to find yourself once there, because the scoreboard doesn't update instantly any more and your current score is probably not what your score was last time it updated.
  • I wanted to try this new thing where every day I would challenge the person immediately above me on the scoreboard to a 1v1 game. Sort of like a ladder tournament, but played with the entire membership. Finding myself on the scoreboard was such a pain in the ass that I gave up this new game after only one day.
  • I've added the suggestion that there should be an Ordinal value as well as a Cardinal one, because it is often more meaningful to know where on the list you stand rather than a raw score.

This is good, but can be better. Amend it to, put a button on everyone's profile that will jump to their position on the scoreboard.

Okay, done.

Why on the profile? The button is far more suited to stay within the boundaries of the scoreboard as it is. The only thing on the profile if any should be the number of where you are between score and games. That info sits better in the profile than a button as no other button is there.

    Rank:Sergeant 1st Class
    Score:1454 (Range: 1430-1838)
    Scoreboard Place: 4581
    Games:6101 completed, 1823 (30%) won

Because if it's on the profile, then I can see where everyone else is on the scoreboard, and not just myself.

(A weaker argument is that the scoreboard takes a long time to load, so it's better to not have to load it twice.)

But the scoreboard already has a username filter for this. But by adding the info directly onto the profile, you have no need to even go to the scoreboard. With your idea, you still need to go to the profile and then to the scoreboard to see.

Yep, that is a weak one. Anyone that cannot wait the half second for it to load up is seriously in need of a patience transplant.

But notice that Dukasaur wanted this so he could see who is around him on the scoreboard, not just where he is on the scoreboard. All I'm asking for is that the "score" number be made a link that automatically jumps to your location on the scoreboard. If you want to do other things, that's fine too.

I just opened up the scoreboard page and it took a full nine seconds to load over my connection (which is a reasonably fast broadband connection).

Clicking scoreboard to the front page takes 7 secs, from there to the actual scoreboard takes another 2, so I am also at 9.

I think this is the best AND most efficient way. If you want to quick check if you upped or dropped a couple places, then no need to click.
If you see yourself at Place 430, and want to see how many points you need to get in top 400, then you can click your score and it jumps to that page on the scoreboard.

You also cannot assume they are on a laptop, always look to have the functionality transferrable to iphones and etc without having to do the work twice.

It would also be cool to add a percentile rank next to your score.

Yes, although I'm too tired to edit the OP. I'll see how I feel in a couple days.

Good idea. I decided to ask for an ordinal value instead. People who want a percentile can easily work it out from an ordinal value, whereas the reverse is more difficult. Also, this prevents any uncertainty, whereas with a percentile rank people would still wonder, "am I in the top half of the 7th percentile, or the bottom half?"

OP also updated with your amendment to put a link directly on the profile.
