[Rules] Limit Freemium Interaction in Forums and Chat

Freemium players allowed only to use drop down for chat, wall and forum posting

Specifics/Details:
  • Freemium players allowed only to use drop down for chat, wall and forum posting

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • Premium players dont have to deal with Freemiums begging to play games Real Time, as if a speed game. Premium olayers wont have to see Freemiums shooting off their mouths in the forums. This would benefit the site by making premium players more likely to renew their Premium account and will force many cheap Freemiums to cough up the 25 dollars and become Premium.

Generally, I am in favor of limiting freemium forum privileges in some way.

I think this would also reduce chat abuse, since only premium players would be able to be abusive, and they're risking losing their money if they get a vacation or banned.

Many abusive people are freemium, because they have nothing to lose, they'll just make a multi when they get banned.

I definitely agree with this.

Perhaps we can also install Trojans onto freemiums computers, access their personal data and post the lurid details slowly, giving them a chance to buy their way out of the shaming every few days.

Or maybe General Risk is just one of those guys who has always felt saddened by his place in life, but has always been cheered up by beating a homeless guy in with a bat.

I would not have paid my initial membership for this site if the suggested limitations had been imposed at the time.

And I would be even less likely than I already am to ever purchase Premium again.

I think adding further limitations would probably hamper the Community. One of the great things about our CC Community is that it really is the most active community out there in our niche.

The CC community is welcoming of all members, paid or not. Purchasing a premium subscription demonstrates your affection for the site and gets you neat bonuses; but Andy is quite right that the site is built on the idea of including everyone, not just those who want to play 30 games at a time.

this might have been a great idea to start the site but not to change to it now.

as annoying as some freemiums are, there are some that are not.

just like the dice, we mostly remember the bad.

I support the idea of giving more perks to premiums, but oppose taking away features from freemiums.

I mostly agree with this! After all, things like the Forum and Mafia Games forum are fun for members. There are plenty of free members that aren't annoying, and it's certainly not fair to them to simply take away something they have for no particular reason.

BMO

And most importantly, it's bad business. The number of people who stick around with the site and go premium because of the thriving forum community may not be large, but it's certainly non-zero.

This. If I had joined the site and couldn't jump into the community and try out team gamers and get to know people I would never have stayed.

I agree that there should be perks for premium, not punishments for freemiums.

For us in the industrialized world, $25 seems like lunch money, but for people in some other parts of the world it may be a month's wage.

Although I understand that the site needs to make a profit or it will die, I would not like to further limit the possibilities for others to participate.
