online mark

Postby Lofoten on Mon Apr 23, 2007 7:01 pm

There should be mark next to peoples name if they are online.

In the list of my games it should be a mark if they are online. Let's say that all four people online in one game. Then i would know that my turn would be coming soon, and the games would move along faster.

Priority** (2):

**Note**
1 = Bottom of 'To Do' list
5 = Urgent, implement with next update

You can see if people are online at the list of people that are online at the bottom of the index. Friend list is on the *To Do* list aswell.

Even better, it could be a part of your sig in the forums. Like a green dot next to your avatar if you're online, and a red dot if you're not.
I like this idea a whole lot, unless it's already been suggested, in which case I'm happy to edit this into a 'ur teh stupids' style flame.

if this were implimented then the waiting game would just happen alot and games would take forever and there would be alot of negative feedback on alot of peoples profiles

Interesting idea. Please expand upon it and explain more thoroughly what you mean.

I'm just interested so I can see who's online and likely to post at any given moment... the possible gameplay ramifications hadn't occured to me.

I think i suggested this idea at some point, and if not, I thought about it.
Although I agree, it could mess you up if you're waiting for someone who is online to go, and they have left their screen on, or they just aren't taking their turn.

This has benefits/ disadvantages, and I'm not going to list them all.
I'd still like it done, as long as you CANNOT give negative feedback for waiting to take your turn :)

Online Now!

Postby JMody on Fri May 18, 2007 7:22 pm

Friends list with online now detector is a must have as well.

Online = Green
Idle(away from comp for 15 or more minutes) = Yellow
Offline = red

These would appear in all the games they are in.

Jesus Christ and the American G. I.
One died for your soul;
the other for your freedom.

Telling if a player is online or not.

Postby LYR on Tue Jun 19, 2007 11:53 am

If you made a little marker next to the person's name telling if they are online it would be much easier than having to go all the way to the bottom of the club forum to check it out.

All you would have to do is put a little marker next to the person's name if they're logged in, when you're in a game or even if you are looking at all of your games.

It would be able to tell you (specifically in a one on one RT game) if you are just clicking on the refresh map button for ten minutes waiting for the person to go, or if you're just wasting your time.

Priority number: 2

Theres a list. Click on players online on the bottom of the forum index or whatever. Sorry for the vague directions but search around. You'll find it eventually.

I think he's saying his suggestion would be easier to use than the Forum list, which would be true since your only interested in the players participating in your game, not all players on the whole site.

I think being able to see who is online - whether on your friends list or people you are playing against - is a FANTASTIC idea! *Thumbs up* =D>

really fantastic, but I also agree that in freestyle this would cause a strategic waiting game... good for some, annoying for all...

Players Online Status

Postby slydell on Mon Jul 09, 2007 3:37 pm

I have been part of some games where a player is clearly going to lose, and if you look on the club forum you can see they are online, but are not taking there turn. I was wondering if there was a way to put a marker next to a players name when they are online.

Another idea similar to that would be a way to mark there name if they are in the game and watching

What difference does it make? What would the marker do for you? If they aren't going to take their turn, knowing they are online will only aggravate you.

Just because a player's online, doesn't mean they can take turns. Me for example right now. I'm sure I'm up in most my games, and I've been on a lot today, but won't take turns until much later tonight when I'm home. So all a "marker" would do is make you misunderstand why I'm not taking my turns; then you'll be angry for nothing and look like a fool, which we don't want. ;-) Players online, who have not hidden their status, are listed at the bottom of the main forum page. Check there.

Agreed, some games that take more strategy come later for me, and the quick 2 second turn games come first :)

+ If Johnnyrocket24 is your opponent, he doesn't take 2 turns in a row (to my knowledge) because he has so many games going (and so do most premium members)

So, be patient, you shouldn't even check the bottom of the forums page :)
