December 22 versions
Original post
As the XML checker doesnt seem to be working I've started on my next map, Iberia
There are 63 territories (if i counted right), and 10 continents + the capitals. I've been trying to keep the map as accurate as possible; i've only made 2 country merges as it did not seem necessary to merge any others.
Here is a list of things i know i have to fix
- Improve graphics
- Enlargen Gibraltar
- Perhaps add a darkened France abov Spain.
For now, the black rectangles are bridges, and the dark brown lines are mountains.

Ok... someone tried to make a spain map, and andy tried to make a iberia map before that... you could use those for inspiration.

Mmhm, I did make an Iberia map, but it got shuffled to the back burner when I took over more duties. I've still got links around for it...
It is somewhat similar, though less territories, and with a few combined regions to improve gameplay, but it was interesting nonetheless.
Anyways, look forward to see how this goes.

I had a bunch of spare time, so I took a shot at making it look better using textures from
GRsites.

The colors are kinda bright.
The map overall looks pretty good though.

I've darkened a few of the colours. I would prefer not to darken the red in portugal, as I've used the colours of the portuguese flags to colour that continent.

Great map... Awesome playability.
Sugestions:
1) A big map like this, with over 60 countries doesn't need a continent with only 3 countries. I think you should add Balearic Islands to Valencia.
2) you need to work on the colors of France(maybe a trasparency effect) and the sea/ocean.

Dead territories suck, rivers suck, background color sucks, other than that its good.

i believe by dead territories he means the capitals. i agree that those need to be modified but so far this looks like a nice map

Dead territories would be areas that are present but not playable, like France in this one.
It can be an interesting map... But I think some regions are really crowded, mainly Portugal, so we could have some more territories merging, dont you think?
And, forgive me please, but Gibraltar is a capitol of what? And are the capitols not included in any continent, correct? About the title, Im convinced that France is not a good place for it...

well...i just named it capitals, because gibriltar is the capital of the country gibraltar. same thing with andorra, they have capitals of the same name, I will see what I can do about Portugal.

Heres the next update:
Changes I've made are:
1. Putting Murcia in the Valencia Continent.
2. Ocean background is different.
3. Merged some territories in Portugal and adjusted bonuses accordingly.
4. Changed Aragon bonus from 3 to 4, as it had 5 borders.
5. Added the same texture as in the rest of the map to France.
6. Moved title.

Same improviments needed:
- Aragon needs 5 bonus, because it have +5 borders with other continents
- Castile-Leon would need +8 bonus
- Connect Setubal to lisboa instead of the connection of Setubal to Leiria. And make Beirus +2 bonus. Or you need to do samething else in Beirus: +3 Bonus in Beirus for 4 countries, plus +1 bonus from Lisboa is too much bonus.

Try switching to a dark grey for the dead territory.

All suggestions have been noted, but aragon might need to stay a 4 because expansion from the northeast is to easy, takeing both catalonia and aragon would result in just 3 borders needed to be defended. I will also change portugal a bit more, expansion there is also to easy.

Dude,
Making a continent with more # borders then # bonus is insane!
At least add impassible borders from country Zaragoza to continent Catalonia
