go on and read. 44 pages is quite a lot of reading

DiM - there's no way that this will get anywhere close to Final Forge without

a) Andy
b) Small map
c) XML

So I propose.

a) Send Banana's
b) Create Small Map
c) Ask me to make the XML... however I'd like to get some confirmation from Andy that this map has a chance before I do it again!!!

I've always liked this map and there are a hell of a lot of plus points to it... but I think perhaps it might be better off if we wait for the new XML features to be implemented - that way it could start a whole new genre of maps "Resource Maps" or the like.

1. i don't have bananas
2. i won't make a small map ntil andy says it has a chance. no point in wasting even more time.
3. as i told you before xml will have to wait for the same reason above. no point in waisting your time also.

waiting for the new xml is of no use. the map is doable with the current xml features. yes i agree even more things could be implemented with the new xml system but that's the case with most maps not just this one.

I wanted to make sure I understood the map. I've been trying to get my head around it, and I think it has come around now.

Before, whenever I looked at the map and read it, I just became confused and bored. No offense, the map just never did anything for me in my noggin. **Scratches his head**

After some time, I think it has settled to the bottom of my brain and I think I've got a grasp of it. Resource pairs, the markets, the transports to foreign markets via the ports, factories...and the pirate cove. Right....hm...

Also, yeti is correct about a small map, they are must.

Now... I've forgot why am I here?

you're here to tell me if this map is ok. it has been sitting around for ages without any feedback and in my opinion the foundry foreman and the assistant should have said something like "hay i think the map is ready for a thorough examination, please post small large and xml" or "your map is crap so many pages of utter garbage. stop working on it immediatelly"
when a map has 74 updates and reaches a point where it has no more feedback and the map maker start building animations or inserting images with village people my guess is that th map is nearly done and waiting for some kind of official support. as for you not being in love with the map that's no problem i'm sure you don't get exited about all the maps that are currently available. some of them are really really bad (i won't give names :P )

anyway from your post i understand this map could possibly get quenched if it meets the conditions. so i will do the small map later today after i get some sleep and i'll speak with yeti to do the bonus part of the xml. i already did the cordinates and connections.

And you know that because you've seen the image with co-ordinates on it?

you've had around 15 posts on this thread. it's not a small amount but not a big one either. but i haven't complained about you, i've complained about andy. not a single post in 44 pages seems rather odd. he usually posts in all the map threads and i'm just curious why he didn't in this one. he says he map never appealed to him. that's not an excuse he's been posting in lots of maps he does not like.

PS: actually he had 2 posts but those were with my poll results when i asked him to remove some polls but those don't count.

yeti_c has started work on the xml. he will finish it on monday. i tried to finish what he started but i don't quite get it. maybe i'll try again tomorrow if i have time.

it's still slightly confusing to me, but after I play a few rounds that should go away. it'll just take longer to take a turn.

I can't see anything that needs changing.

it's normal to be a bit confusing at first. it's a new concept. but it is really easy you just need to take some turns and after that it will be like you've always played it.

i play this map with my friends all the time (we just finished 3 games this evening). at first they also thought it to be confusing but after a 30 second explanation a a few turns taken they now feel very comfortable playing.
the only problem is that they only want to play AoM now and this means no more nuclear Risk. i love nuclear risk.

i tried combinig nuclear risk with this map. man that game was total mayhem and disaster.

I just wanted to help support this map since I like the creative thought behind it, and it looks well-executed for the most part.

I realize part of the fun is saying transporting all this stuff, but I think it might be better to just say

+1 for owning resource pair and local market
+2 for owning resource pair and foreign market (must also own ports on both continents)

or something to that effect.

i have the transportation expression and i also explain what transportation means. i really really aim for a certain feeling here and feeling is all about details.

remove a word here an icon there put numbers instead of teritory names and replace all resources with R1 R2...R12 and i'll have the same map regarding the gameplay but with absolutely no feeling.

i think it's pretty clear what the legend says so i'm sorry but i don't want to change it for the reason stated above :?

edit//

the xml is too big to fit in a single post so i'll upload it somewhere and post the link.

Hmmm methinks you hit a size limit in that post...

Try uploading it somewhere and then giving the link instead of pasting it into the topic.

C.

PS You've copied your old post as you say "This one lacks the bonus system" But actually - it now has the bonus system (and due to the limit only half of it!!)
