Qwert. I've had a brief look at the map. The Southern part is very confusing - it isn't initially obvious that the inset bits are actually playable regions, or where they link to... At first I thought they were part of Africa.
The legend and instructions seem a bit all over the place. Ideally I would want to see them grouped together where possible, so that people don't miss things during a game.
How do the ships work? Are they all connected? Do they have any special attack features? Will they start neutral?
What do the little blue dots mean? I'm sure that some people will infer that they have some sort of bonus, but I can't see anywhere on the map that explains what they are (although I'm guessing that they're capital cities, and purely decorative?)
How do you attack Crete?
What is the little white/purple thing?
In general, I thiink that the gameplay is going to be fairly straightforward, but the whole thing looks unnecessarily complex to me.

I see the Roma city on the map has the jagged block around it, but unless you're really trying to piece the map together, it's not obvious that the Roma Defence Map is a callout map of the city. Same with the Alps. (Plus the Type-O is Defence - I'm guessing you mean Defense but I'm not sure if it's an old english/roman spelling)

Ancient letter stand to Bithynia et Pontus(in map i dont have space to write all names on terittories)
haven't been following this map, so this is a first look for me. The map definitely has a unique look, but it's way to complicated for me to understand. I had a hard time figuring the attack routes and what bonus I'm due. Example: If I hold 3 Classis Romanum ships I should get a +4 bonus? I'm sure that's not right, but It's what it looks like based on the legend. And all those towns designated by a small blue dot - do they each get a +1 bonus?

So, I like the graphics. But I think the bonus structure needs to be more clear.

This is exactly what I was saying about the whole thing looking more complicated than it really is... The minimap/callout/inset map with the Alps/Praetoria doesn't seem to fit in with the rest of the map.
I put the question there, as I think this will confuse people. Just because I can work out that they are purely decorative won't stop somebody assuming that they have to capture the blue dots for extra bonus.
Again, I think somebody will think this is another bonus, especially as it is the only place where this happens on the map.
On a graphical note, the map looks a little busy, and it doesn't help that all of the text is orientated differently. It would be a big leap forward if you could have the text going in the same direction (as much as possible).

I agree. When people post and all they say is what they don't like it isn't very helpful unless they are specific about what they don't like. Not saying they were or weren't.
I think the legend issue is that it is crowded. But I understood it. It did take me a few to realize that was a legend though. I think I'm already somewhat confused by the inset maps though so...
The inset maps don't look like inset maps to me. I know you applied serious effects to give significant drop shadow but I think that in this case you made it look too pretty, artistic. Map insets are rarely artistic, almost always rectangular, etc... I suggest doing what you can to make it look more obviously an inset.
I would prefer that the ships be bigger and that the army circles somehow overlap with the ships.
I would add more texture to the out of play areas. And lessen the area that they cover and expand the size of the rest of the map if you can.
I really like the graphics overall. Just a bit too artistic and not enough mappy.
qwert wrote:I will first start with map size-these is last frontier of map size and can not be biger,so these request i can not apply.
qwert wrote:As concerne of Map Insets, its very simple and only have shadows to give fill that its a on big map,and present peaces of paper.
Ships also can not be biger then now.
Texture will be not good ,because will create dificulty with readabile of names.
Don't get annoyed. I don't know what would look better - you're the map maker, try some experimenting. I'm just telling you what I see, as I'm sure about 100 other members would post that if the map went live today.

Experiment with what? How can i change something what look very good,to something what you can not explane to me. Discusion like these is not very much helpful.
For now it will stay like these, for two reason.
I very like present look.
second-nobody show me visualy how will must look Alpes and Roma box.
Ofcourse you can continue with"I dont like these" and " I dont know what will look better".
Qwert, it is difficult to see you becoming so annoyed with us when we make suggestions to try and help you.
It is YOUR map... so why don't you try a couple of different things? You might be happy with the way it is now, but others disagree... sitting back and doing nothing will not help your map develop and get better.

O ,cam on,i never post sugestion like "i dont like these" or "i fell that these can be better".
Maybe i dont understand english so good, but last several post its realy not helping me. You,RjBeals see that something wrong but can not explane what. What Different things?(even you put question mapk).
If you realy can help me to understand what you want to see, then i realy dont know what to do.
Why not try and round up all the bits of legend-type stuff (marked in red) and put them all into the same area (marked in green).
You might have to re-work your title-bar a little, but this is just a suggestion... I'm not saying this will answer any of your problems, but it might help bring a bit of clarity?

take issue with this. I specifically gave you ways to make it look better. If you don't understand my English well I'm cool with that. But if you are going to ignore my posts then please don't say that I didn't provide direction on how to improve it.

,you are incredible, now you want to put all in small area up,and to even change Titlle, and for why?
Why i must to squeze all Boxes in one? One previous post from Oaktown when he wrote me why i put Alpes and roma box together, and now you tell me to put all in one box.Aim realy dont see point to all boxes squeze up,and to create empty space down. These not have any sence and logic.

I don't think he's suggesting you leave the area in africa empty, but that you instead cut that are out(not the complete coastline but the area that will be empty), make the big 'line' at the top with "Imperivm Romanvm' , 'Marcvs Vlpivs Nerva' etc., make it smaller and less prominent so it takes less room so the whole map is bigger. But I might be mistaken.
Now, I did not understand how the Alpes province and Roma worked just by looking at the map, neither did I see that each town gives a bonus of +1, so I definitely think you need to make that clearer.
I don't know how.
Is the alpes thing really necessary?
