Part of your title is "Silly Mid On" - but you have no such position?!
Or "SIlly Mid Off" for that matter...
You have commentators, police & streakers - but no scorers - or scoreboards?!
Supporters - why are their Saffers & Kiwis at an Ashes game?!

C, i asked you to read back through the thread because i feel you must give repsect to those have already commented.
Do them a favour also.
You might gain an insight on how the map has developed and why some things are like they are.

If you really want me to comment on your comments...here goes, and if it sounds glib...take it as you may.

"Deep Mid On"? (not sure there is such a position?)

Check the map i have a couple of pages back

"Deep Cover" - is behind "Extra Cover" and not "Cover"

As above.

No Slips?

Who cares, there are often matches played that i have watched where slips are not in play.

"Third Man" - is pretty much always on the boundary - so a "deep" version is fairly weird - a "short" 3rd man might be more appropriate?

As Above - the map.

Part of your title is "Silly Mid On" - but you have no such position?!

Who cares, it's meant to be fun. Afterall some of these postiion names...i think there a bit of laugh myself.

Or "SIlly Mid Off" for that matter...

As above.

You have commentators, police & streakers - but no scorers - or scoreboards?!

Who cares, there is not room for everyone else.

Supporters - why are their Saffers & Kiwis at an Ashes game?!

Why not have them there. It makes for good small bonuses. The original might have been an Ashes game, but that has since changed. :)

Some of your comments i can understand - but can you fix the technical errors? (i.e. Third man - and Deep Cover)

Would be good if we can have a Silly Mid On in there too?! (You could drop/swap "Deep Mid On"?)

The technical errors....can you provide a diagram/ref map where you are getting these positions from, or are these just from your mind/experience, which i understand when people play cricket these positions can sometimes vary.
My ref is on the previous page, please check it out.
Position in the title...well i think by putting the position in the map, it might create some expectation in players minds and i don't want that, so i will not put it on the map.

u're perfectly capable of carrying on, in the graphics workshop, this extremely interesting conversation about field positions. just don't smudge the ink.

Thanks ian.
C and I will continue the positioning....

I have just seen in the Graphics section quite a few posts about this map from thenobodies80.
Where have they gone? I must say that they were quite negative, and i think undeserved.
Have they been deleted?
As for his comments, he may not understand the map/game, that's fine by me. But as the thread has a following, i say there is support for this map to get through the process.
I have PMed previous commentors asking them to post if they have concerns about the map.
Since there is hardly any, i would take that as most people are happy with this map.
Since it is a first for "sports", i would like to keep the graphics simple, they don't need to be totally awe inspiring like some other maps. Once, again this is a bit of a fun map, and everyone is going to have their different opinions anyway. :)

deep backward is still the only thing not making sense to me...

the map you are using...
at point

if you go to the boundry...you have deep backward, deep and deep forward
all of these positions have point on them.

Same as on the other side with square leg

If you follow the key down the bottom....red dots are the position. the yellow is the varations.

Ie deep backward point.

I hope that made sense.

Apart from that its looking good that I might start the xml soon

oh my name is spelt wrong on the map

I wonder if yeti_c meant give you your way on the others. Maybe I shouldn't stick my nose in but I hate to see disagreements due to misunderstandings.

Er - yeah - it's a phrase - I meant that the others are OK...

Personally I would swap Deep 3rd Man for 3rd Man - and 3rd man for a short 3rd man... (And move it a bit closer)

Gees, no wonder misunderstandings occur.

I'm wondering if the bowler shouldn't have an autodeploy of some sort...perhaps + 4...to represent the balls he gets per over?

yes. but should the bowler get +6. i don't think that would be cricket in this game... lesser is probably more here.

if u do this, then the bowler will have to start with a decent number of neutrals.

What about +4 auto-deploy with an 8 neutral start? :)

let's try something like that. certainly no more than 8 neutrals. from previous experience in galapagos, most players will usually regard 10 neutrals as a permanent roadblock.
