This. Could you try a version without gaps, but with different colours / shades for each state within the region?
The current style wouldn't work.

Yes I am going to do that, and make all the borders flow together, like the border between Idaho and Montana, but lets leave that for graphics okay as it doesn't affect gameplay. I will be reviewing Sully's gameplay post back a few pages ago so ....
