The connection between P1 and S1 looks incomplete...
Other than that, I think it's ready to be quenched.

I'm willing to bet, all members of the Quench-it-Crew never even used the word 'Quench' during every day conversation until now. :)

Here is the map with the P1/S1 connection fixed. Also there are 2 versions one with army shadows beveled and one with onle slight drop shadow. Which one does everyone like.

Beveled shadows are consistent with the design of the rest of the map.

I think circles are old school. But I like the bottom one more.

I'd have to agree with Keyogi, the top image is consistent with the overall feel and look of the map.

One minor thing that I noticed, the Yellow King seems to be of the same color as Y2, or very close at least. Consider using a different tone of yellow. Perhaps purple also

I like the beveled too. Andy's right (as usual) about the kings color. It looks like you have some sort of glow or fade on the Kings, which changes the color a little.

I will have a final version Monday night (EST). It will have beveled army shadows, the P1>S1 connection will be fixed and the Purple/Yellow Kings will have a different color to distinguish them from the rest of their respective mountain colors. Did I miss anything?
Oh and the XML will be double checked and cleaned up to make it good for play.

Agreed.

Only thing for me is that in the legend for the 2, 3, 4 or 5 Kings they are all diagonal backgrounds apart from the 5 which is horizontal. Shouldn't they all be horizontal gradients between the colours? (if that makes any sense...)

OK here are the new versions. I added a new style bevel with some texture. What does everyone think.

Here are the fixes:
1)Adjusted the connection between P1 and S1
2)Fixed the gradient behind the 5 King Bonus to be consistent with the other 3.
3)Changd the glows around the Kins to better let the color of the territory show.

Style #1 Army Shadows have Current Bevel

Style #2 Army Shadows have newer Profile Bevel with Texture

XML:
http://jmhooton.iweb.bsu.edu/joel/KOTM/KOTM9.xml
This is the corrected XML.

I personally like the 2nd option better. What does everyone think? I believe that most of the issues have been resolved. The map has improved TONS from the first pic. Thanks for all of the input and ideas.

#1

I still think some of the shadows are in the wrong places...

can you try putting the kings shadows just off the mountain?

and try best as possible to keep shadows on one side of the mountains? .eg. P3 moved over to the right, so it isn't on a ridge.

Hm, I sort of like #2, but on account of the 'H'elipads it looks odd to have both varieties of circles on the map, though obviously one is the army shadow and one isn't. It just doesn't feel consistent.

#1 is more consistent with the rest of the map, but it depends on the look WidowMakers is going for. I like #1 because it ties in with the legend, helipads and just the map in general. However, #2 works well if the shadows are moved so they completely fit within an area as it looks as though they would be set within each object. That would be too much work to make it worthwhile IMO, so I'd stick with #1.

I agree that #1 fits the Legend and map well. However, #2 fits the mountains and texture. In light of all the changes to make #2 fit lets stick with #1 then. Does everyone agree?

Um, I can hardly tell the difference between the two. Either one would be great. I just want to play this map as soon as possible! Please finish soon!

#1 - the cleaner the army circles the better, a philosophy i need to embrace in my own map. Plus #1 kinda look like Mentos, and it just seems like good luck to have the freshmaker represented.
