forgot to reply :) - I see what you mean... though Bohemia in this map is not intended to represent the exact historical borders of the Kingdom of Bohemia itself, I could enlarge Ratisbon region further north, breaking that connection (assuming that the Duchy of Franconia is incorporated in the Ratisbone region)

Re: The Third Crusade -Version 11.1 [D] -Small version ready

The graphics on this map are first class - at an initial glance it looks like qwerts' Holy Roman Empire map, and the area is (obviously) broadly the same as the map of the first crusade...

The numbers on the map don't really do anything for me - and all the greeny-browns on the legend are a bit indistinct; and I can't think of anything clever to suggest right now :-k

Once you've got the gameplay stamp, I don't think it will be long before the map is graphics-stamped... I'll have to try and find some time to sit down and have a proper think about what you've got going on here - it won;t be tonight, but hopefully later on this week :P

Thanks Benn,

well, though the map would look cleaner without them, the bonus numbers really help to get a wider and immediate perspective of game-play and bonus distribution.

Looks good.

Maybe to satisfy the voices of no bonus numbers by putting up the poll again? But this time record the results :)

I'm not sure I want to suggest adding more to the legend, but since you have some additional bonus areas like Normandy marked with hashing, perhaps, for completeness, a small circle coloured and hashed to match should appear in the legend.

Could we get another option in the poll about removing numbers and adding texture. You may feel it's ugly, but it's a relative notion, and we might like it.
Or we could have a poll afterwards, if the numbers are removed.

A very nice map, Kabanellas. Praises in order. Should be quite fun to play-test.

A couple of graphical nitpicks, I suppose:
- The +1 off Normandy is a little hard to discern what with the Graham Chapman picture there.
- When I saw this map I wondered and wondered what the diagonal stripes meant. If you add some kind of indication -- maybe something as simple as adding an extra striped circle in the key next to the appropriate solid ones -- you might save players some confused searching.

Thanks a lot Evil!
I guess that when people read the +X in the bottom legend they will figure all out. :)
I'll try to make that Normandy (+1) more readeable...

But why would people want to read the legend when you have these beautiful bonus numbers all over the map?
Ehh, their lazy fault if they're confused.

good! the +2 behind the protection of the english channel was a point of concern. the only way i can think of to keep the +2 london bonus is to make the one-way attack to cyprus start from the english channel and not from london. if the london bonus is +1, then i think this won't be necessary.

a neutral of perhaps 1 army is needed on norman kingdom, which is a 2-region +2.

the county of tripoli, another 2-region bonus, can maybe be treated differently by paired with any knight's templar cross for +2.

more later!

ian. :)

So are all the territories that aren't marked as nutural just normal territories? Can you make different starting values for starting positions?

I'm feeling that we've reached a point here, where I can't remember of nothing more to add in this map.

What will it take to reach the next step?
