How can you disagree with a fact? :) Having something underneath text is going to conflict it, and make it inherantly less readable. Now you may for personal preference ignore that loss of readability in certain circumstances, but that's an issue of taste and overall design.

This map just seems too big.
Also i dislike the way that some teritories have only one border. Ex: South Greenland

I think that the white behind it actually improve legibility, at least to my eyes.

Thats actually a feature i like a lot. One thing i like to see in maps are difficult routes to follow. Something that could potentially make it difficult for one person to just roll through the entire map with a large force. A decent sized army on south greenland could foil an entire onslaught.

haha, this is one of those rare occasions where i agree with you to the fullest. and I believe it's a good thing.

In reference to the 'dead end' countries:

Thats actually a feature i like a lot. One thing i like to see in maps are difficult routes to follow. Something that could potentially make it difficult for one person to just roll through the entire map with a large force. A decent sized army on south greenland could foil an entire onslaught.


That's the same reasoning I used, and to be frank, they're staying.

Large version with numbers, I believe it's ready.

The xml is done also, marv helped with refining it and then I corrected errors in it.

I'll work on the small version after this, but I'm not sure a small version will be legible.

If anyone has anything else to say, please go right ahead.

edit: I suppose we should have a vote on the graphic behind the legend. I honestly doubt I'll be changing the text from center-justification though.

---Take care, and make sure all numbers are centralized in the army shadows. It makes the map look more professional. Lack and I have decided that there should be centralization in all new maps, and in respect to the old ones they will eventually be asked to fix the minor errors.

it's something I've noticed on other maps but never really say anything cuz they're already being used, but seeing as you posted using the numbers in it, the blue numbers are hard for me to read in the circles, dunno if there's anything you can do about it.

Will do. I fixed some glaringly bad ones, but I can go fine tune the rest.

I dont think you can do anything about it.

As for my vote the key lookes better centralized with the white behind it.

As for the dark on dark, if you increased the lightness of the army shadows a hair, that would do it I think. Look on many other maps, most needn't anything as dark as you've got. Now how much work that all might be, depends on how you went about putting the army shadows on the map.

The legend looks legible enough to me, and it's a lot better than the whirlpool. As for the circles, I wonder if a slightly more neutral shade of grey (dark, but not near black) might do the trick.
