Moved to Map Ideas, since the OP seems to be suggesting...a map idea!

Names would need to be changed but that would be super easy.
I've brought this up before and think its a great idea

Yes, might be some interesting map with vassals, elimination if you loose your castle and sea routes.

Funny story: Back in the day,
Conquer Club apparently got permission to make a Westeros map. Nevertheless, despite popular sentiments,
I'd need two hands to count the number of times it's been suggested.
Nevertheless, now that supersize maps are allowed, I think we've got some brand new potential for a Westeros map, and if we can confirm that the permission is still valid, it may be worth attempting again...
...and bam.

Absolutely! I'd love to collaborate on this idea with you. I'm 100% behind this.

What should we do in terms of classic vs. complex gameplay? I tried to model my map's gameplay more or less around political situations rather than direct territorial control, but something more classic might do just as well as long as Westeros is represented.

I think we should integrate the gameplay complexities into a classic style map. Visually we could present the land as broken up into geographical regions, like mine, but each of those regions represents the lands controlled by a bannerman (as it is in the book). That way we can keep the +1 for every two bannermen rule, which I really like, and we can keep region capitals. Kings landing could pretty much the same, as it's own little inset. So pretty much the gameplay fundamentals wouldn't change at all. One question is whether we want to name territories after the greater and lesser houses or their castles and fortresses.

Sounds like a plan. I sort of overgenerated on the bannermen so it may be in order to have the number of territories somewhere around yours.
Some more ideas I had (and we can drop some and pick up others if they look neater) include:
- Having Free Cities mercenaries as an extra 'continent', needing a port on the eastern coast to benefit from rather than a Great House
- Make the Iron Islands one territory and have their bonus be +1 for each 2 or 3 territories on the western coast
- Different territories in King's Landing having different effects (e.g. Master of Coin giving a multiplier for mercenary bonuses, Varys bombarding other King's Landing territories or some such. I don't know that I can think up enough special powers for each territory, though.

Maybe, that begins to make things pretty complicated. Also I think we should focus on Westeros and the 7 kingdoms. I think we should start with what we've got and maybe bring in this idea later.

This is kind of a clever idea. I was thinking about making Pike 1 territory and making their other territories boats, but I might like your idea more.

Yeah, It's a cool idea but it might be too much. It'd be so cool if holding Vary's could lift fog of war for you, but obviously that's not an option.

Agreed.
As for the territory names: I suppose castles/fortresses/lands make more sense because lordships can be given or taken in a civil war like in the books.

I do. I also think that we should go with either the name, Westeros or The 7 Kingdoms. I'm not at home right now but I'll post the template I started for the basic layer of the map.

The most successful attempt at a Westeros map was the one by spockers and KEYOGI way back in the day (before I was even a foundry noob):

Hey I had an idea, but it might mean that we have to take out a feature or 2 on the map you presented. What if we gave a bonus to House Targaryen? We would have to get rid of the "3 rights to the Baratheon Banner" rule because the Targaryen seat would be the current Baratheon seat. It's bannermen would be be the territories around Kings Landing or "The Crownlands" This would include Dragonstone but it would just be a regular territory.
What do you think?

It could go either way, I suppose. My thinking is that leaving the Targaryens out represents the book more than having them in, but we could go for a reenactment of Robert's Rebellion. If that's the case, I would also remove the whole King's Landing inset as the politics in the Landing is less interesting than during the book.

This was actually sort of my thinking. Not so much a "reinactment" of the book but dropping you into the world right as the Targaryen's are leaving power, and seeing who takes the throne.
If that's the case, I would also remove the whole King's Landing inset as the politics in the Landing is less interesting than during the book.

Maybe we could keep the inset but, make it less specific. Instead of having actual characters, just the positions like: Iron Throne, Hand of the King, Grand Maester, Small Counsel, Kingsgaurd. I'm not opposed to losing it either... I too could go either way.

In the mean time here's a small taste of what I've been cooking up graphically:

The Banners are still at the fore font, the bonus colors only lightly present to reinforce the idea that you don't need the entire region to get a bonus so long as you hold the capital and 2 bannermen. As this develops more I will add in mountain immpassables to help defend the Westerlands, the Eyrie, and Dorne.
btw, I need to know the maximum dimensions I'm working with on a supersized map?
