Hi sailor, since you are clearly serious about getting some feedback on this project, I'll give you a few minutes and some honest opinions.

For starters, it has been my experience that first time mapmakers do much better when they find a project that attracts a wide audience. The Hamptons aren't a region that is going to bring in a lot of CC players, especially those who live in countries other than the US. I bet that a majority of CC players have never heard of the Hamptons, and while most Americans have probably heard references to the region, it doesn't mean much to us.

Next, if you are committed to doing a relatively unknown region, the best way to make it work will be to come up with something original in either the map's style or gameplay. Right now this map has neither, so you've got some thinking to do to give us something original. And if you do come up with an original style idea you'll need the software to make it look good; right now the map looks very pixely.

Alright, you've got your work cut out for you. Good luck.

Luke - this will not be moved until the cartography assistants and mods deem it ready to be moved. To do that you really need to improve all aspects of the map - gameplay, graphics, some new original ideas, etc...

Don't worry about where the map is in the foundry, worry about improving the map - it'll be moved when it's ready.

Because you are so new to map making here on CC, I suggest that you look through the foundry much more. This will help you get a sense of what map making is all about here on CC. You should look at other maps, and look at the process that they go through in order to be quenched. Pay close attention to the comments and suggestions that allow the map makers to create successful maps. I think when you have a better idea of what it takes to create a successful map, then you will have an easier time creating your own successful map.
In the meantime, don't worry about comments, or getting your map looked at by others... instead, focus on how you can improve the graphics and the overall appeal of your map.

hope that helps a bit!

Yes, they are. Luke, take off the Gaussian blur, but to be honest, I'm surprised – this is actually getting somewhere.

May I ask what program you're using to create this?

Also, just out of curiosity, is the image so blurry because you simply enlarged the size of the original to try to make it fly better, or did you really apply a blur filter to a map?

One thing to note: it's going to be very hard to get this map quenched, I'm warning you now. Look through the current maps on the site. There are very, very few maps with a tert count on this end and all of them are graphically and technically superior. You're going to need a title, a key, something that better shows the bonuses, lots of work on the graphics themselves, some explanation as to if the land connects, etc etc... and that's just scratching the surface- before even tweaks can be made.

If you don't do a lot of this early on to get a larger portion of the community interested it's simply going to die. Someone notes looking through the foundry forums at the process other users go through. There's also a few tutorials in that section that could help you improve your graphics.

Good luck to ya.
