Accused:
jean-yves

The accused are suspected of:

Ratings abuse

Game number(s)
Game 5705423 :the game I personally played with him. He obviously was upset that he lost but I was nothing but kind towards him. Didn't deserve these ratings. He obviously is a sore loser. I believe the drop was pretty one-sided but that's how it goes.

Game 5625371 :went back a couple of his games and found he basically did the same thing to his opponent in this game in which he also had his ass handed to him.. His opponent also received all 1-stars

Game 5220716 :this is as far back as I went in his ratings but he lost this game as well, rating his opponents poorly.

The first 2 examples are the best, especially 5705423.. Just read the game log. He was just a sore loser..

He's given 5 stars to those he's lost too. He gives 5 stars most of the time. Doesn't look abusive.

EDIT: But it does appear he is only rating high on recent games that he won. Might be something starting to happen.

I've just added links to the player and games. You know how to make your text bold right? Well on the far-right end of that bar you can click 'Game' and enter a game number there to create a link, and you can click 'Player' and enter a member's username there to create a link.

Exactly.. He seems to be a pretty good player, lots of games played, decent percentage won I guess (better than me anyway), and he, for the most part, rates opponents fairly. Game 5705423 and Game 5625371 CLEARLY show him abusing the ratings system. He lost both and for whatever reason gave me and the other guy in the other game all 1 stars.. That's crap. I've messaged jean-yves and foed him which is all I can do I guess but I kinda take pride (as stupid as it sounds) in my rating. Before I received that rating from him I had a 4.9.. After his rating I dropped to 4.8... I know boo-hoo me, its really not a big deal but thats why there is a forum here right? Im always very kind to my opponents, saying good luck and good game before and after each game... I think my rating for this game should be just discounted maybe or the guy should at least be warned.. I dunno what the normal course of actions are but its just my opinion. I don't think its fair that just because the guy has a bad day or has an unlucky drop or the dice arent going in his favor that he wants to take it out on his opponent who was kind and respectful to him.. I guess he figures since he didn't win that he could at least "win" by basically revenge rating..

Abusing the rating system is leaving 1 stars all the time not just a few times. For one example of rating abuse look at JaMarcus

I understand and yes I actually did look at the post on JaMarcus. I'm not saying jean-yves is abusing the rating system because he (95% of the time) rates opponents fairly. I originally posted this because he had absolutely no reason to rate me as he did. At the very least he abused my rating as well as josh_butler's rating. It reflects poorly on me as a player because the guy had a bad day. A 4.9 looks alot better than a 4.8 and because I've played only maybe 150 games, a 1-star rating across the board from an opponent can effect my overall rating much more than if I had played 300 games.

1-star fairplay rating:means I must've been cheating, had some sort of secret diplomacy, had some sort of cheat code..

1-star gameplay rating:means my strategy was awful, I had no clue what I was doing, etc.. At the worst maybe the game he played with me wasn't "enjoyable" (because as stated, the gameplay rating covers "the player's ability to play an enjoyable game") so maybe he didn't enjoy the game? If I recall correctly, I believe the drop was greatly in my favor. This isn't my fault. Should I have given him mercy and let him take a few of my territories because I felt sorry for him? Or should I have used the drop to my advantage to try to destroy his territories as quickly as possible? Which in 5 rounds I managed to do. Other than him possibly not "enjoying" the game we played, there is no way my gameplay warranted a "bad" rating.

1-star attitude rating:means I must've been cursing at him, calling him names, etc.. Game 5705423.. Just look at the chat log. I told him good luck, then he starts crying about his luck, telling me gg before I even finished my 2nd turn. He basically gave up. Before this, the play was moving rapidly.. After he basically conceded defeat, he wasn't so quick on his turns anymore so I asked if he was quitting or were we gonna finish the game out. He came back and finished the game, I told him, "good game, better luck next time bud" and he says, "no comment". Not sure what that meant exactly... But given that info, did I deserve a 1-star rating?? I don't think I did.

And yes I have WAAAAY too much time on my hands to sit here and critique a rating I received for like the past 2 hours. lol.. I need a job. :|

People With Low Ranks Tend To Dole Out Negative Ratings Like A Candy...

Wish There Was A Way To Avoid It, But There Just Isn't...

Ya Play A Game Terribly And Then Leave Your Opponent A Neg Rating...

... Course I Know A Few High Rank Players That Dole Out Neg Ratings Just For The Other Guy Having Good Dice

It looks like this guy hasn't been rating everyone he plays recently. He may get into a bad ratings habit but he isn't there yet.

Just ask him to remove it. Not much else you can do or will be done at this point other than you foe him or remove the rating you gave him.

HUH. I just looked at the ratings you give..... Maybe you should be reporting yourself.

not always ;)
However i believe you have your answers throughout this thread. Send him a pm asking him about the rating and what not.
It is most likely he was upset over losing a 1v1 game.

What's wrong with the ratings I give lol? If I leave a rating blank (no stars) it doesn't count towards good or bad right? Mostly what your seeing is me leaving the gameplay rating blank and when I do that it is almost always because I won that particular match and unless it was like a 20 round battle I find it difficult to judge my opponents gameplay when I have won. I'd rather not leave a poor rating because I don't wanna drop that opponent's overall rating unless the opponent was a dick and he played poorly. I posted something about this about a month ago under the "general questions" part of the forum. So am I wrong? Is leaving a rating blank worse than a 1-star?? Other than that what could be wrong with how I rate?
