Accused:

Minister Masket

The accused are suspected of:

Other: 8 player game, very close, down to 3 players. He misses turns, blames his internet company, then apologizes and says he will not be able to play for two weeks. Myself and the other player tell him we're sorry and play as if he is not there. 2 days later he logs in and severely attacks us both. Now neither of us can win. This seems to me like cheating, or if not, very unsportsmanlike. I would like him kicked from the game so we can finish like we should have.

Game number(s):

Game 4931805

Comments: It's all in the game log.

I don't see a problem here, sure it doesn't seem fair, but you guys should've eliminated red and avoided this problem to begin win. Besides, he did announce that he was back and that he managed to set up a temporary connection. I personally think you are just being a sore loser

lying is not against the rules, it is an often used tactic in foggy games....

2009-08-14 17:36:32 - Minister Masket received 26 deferred troops for missing 2 rounds

2009-08-14 17:41:24 - Minister Masket: I'm baaaaccckkkk......

Yeah, right after he'd kicked them both hard in the teeth. It's not against the rules but it is 'cheap tactics' to play dead, something for both Pink and Green to bear in mind when they rate him.

I would imagine that the Multi-hunters response will be something along the lines of "cleared of wrong doing, foe and rate appropriately."

If this guy ever joins an 8 man free for all game I'm playing, then I'll make a point of taking him out first.

In the game I played against MM, ages ago, he didn't use any cheap tactics. I think he honestly did have internet problems, I also think this could have been avoided by the remaining players doing the logical thing and eliminated him. for not only the reason that happened but so they don't have to wait three turns.

I've had internt problems by my self but it did not cost big trouble for anyone else than me. Anyway. I wonder what's fair due such circumstances? Leave the game? The problem is that generally we contend in many games.

I've been going through internet hell recently, it's all very confusing. Basically we're switching between 3 different internet service providers at the moment. Now I was on holiday between Monday and Friday anyway, and I was told before I left that there would be a 2 week wait to get our broadband backup and running from the Wednesday when it would be disconnected.
However, when I got back I found out that another company had sent us a router to use temporarily. Basically a dirty trick to get us to stay with them....

So yeah, my intenet is up and active now, and I'll admit I was surprised when I discovered that both my games were still running with me still playing. Even more when I saw in the game in question that I had not been attacked at all by green and pink, when they could've easily taken me out of the game together. I'll admit I used my first turn back over-offensively, so I'm willing to broker a deal to get the game back to the level it was before I left by giving back territory, happy?

Just because his internet connection comes back doesn't mean he has to play his turns. The reasonable thing to do would have been to announce his return BEFORE taking his turn, miss a turn and allow each of us to attack him, especially after seeing we DIDN'T attack him because of what he said. If we thought he would be back, we surely would have attacked him and taken away his bonus. Now he has tilted the entire game in his favor when it WAS a really enjoyable and close match. This is a GAME people and supposed to be FUN, not full of frustration from liars and cheats. I would hope the admins protect that.

His internet connection was restored and he found he could take his turns, he is entitled to do so. Nothing he did, even if he is lying, constitutes cheating. If you feel he was lying and you don't like it foe and rate him accordingly. If you want him to do the reasonable thing you probably should have as well. You most definitely should have called a temp truce with the other player and eliminated him. That is clearly the most logical, this way you don't risk it and you don't have to wait through all of the missed turns. You're absolutely right that this is a game, it is supposed to be fun. But you have to remember that not everybody plays by the rules, people bend them or break them. You have to deal with that and learn to play with those people. The mods and admin do protect the site from multi's/cheats as best they can, but dishonesty isn't against the rules. Minister will most likely not be told anything at all, and you will be told to rate and foe him by a mod if you don't like it. That's just the way it's gonna go down.

I agree with everything said here, however I will add that minister masket didn't know that his internet was gonna be restored, so I don't think of that as lying.

What part of "I'm giving you your old territories back" do you not get here?
If I had announced I was back and missed another turn, I would've been kicked out as that would've been my 3rd miss.

2 days later he logs in and severely attacks us both.

Bullcrap. I was on holiday anyway from Monday until Friday. That's 5 days, not 2.

Sorry, but we do not hold it against someone when they say they will be out for a specified time and then comes back earlier or logs back in not at the time expected. It is up to you on how you see the situation and how to handle it.
