Accused:

jpliberty

The accused are suspected of:

Other: Abusive rants driving new recruits away

Game number(s):

Game 5304825

Comments: You wonder why new recruits dissapear after a few days if this is the crap they have to cop when they 'make a wrong move' - I'm pretty sure i've seen this guy do similar stuff before.. I've foed him, but just thought i should point it out. I would imagine this isn't they way to keep people coming back to the site.

He's been reported many times. Perhaps this time something real will happen.

I've read worse tirades in games and to his credit this recruit seemed to take it in stride.
When the BS get's above ankle deep you can always recommend the mute button (foe'm).

Absolutely true, and yet...when an individual consistently acts this way (and jpliberty does seem to), the foe button isn't effective at all. Sure, it cleans up the chat for that individual, but it leaves the problem for everyone else to have to clean up (by facing it and then foeing him) as well.

I don't much care about someone who goes off on someone when it's not a habit. But for those who habitually do so, the "foe and move on" routine just doesn't cut it, in my opinion.

When I first joined, it took me over 30 games to get the hang of things... I think insulting someone for not knowing how to play is way out of line... I know it's frustrating watching some newbie ruin your well thought out game, but there is no need to insult them, I'm of the idea we should advice them...

This guy should be repremended at least, but I would recomend he is banned from game chat...

I have played many games with JP and he is the funiest guy i came across. There is no need to ban him, playing new recruits is frustrating at times, and when they ruined your game, even more, maybe new recruits need to ask for advice before they play or play NEW RECRUITS!!!

He is a potty mouthed little cry baby, though must admit have been more amused than offended by his comments in games against him, he is not even 5% of the nuisance and new player molester that codeblue is, and codeblue is still happily been the biggest paranoid(but don't forget he was brig 5TIMES!!!!!!) sore loser on site. Can understand JP's frustration especially when noobs can't even be bothered reading the game legend on a map, and just attack down to nothing.

See, I don't really understand that logic. Allow me to compare it to poker. In poker, occasionally someone will make a thoroughly dumnarsed call and get lucky to draw out for the win. Just like in CC, someone can make a thoroughly dumnarsed move or set of moves and get lucky to draw out for the win.

In both cases, you shouldn't get mad...you should be GLAD the person plays like an idiot...keep playing them, because over time, you're going to have all their money (or points).

This thread is about a player being rude, and though we all know how frustrating it is to get your game messed up by a newbie, I don't think it calls for someone insulting another player.

If you are really frustrated by a newbie messing your game up, you can tell them so. Actually that's how I got to know BoganGod, I messed up big time and ruined his game, he told me so, not very nicely, but he wasn't rude, he didn't call me an idiot, and after he calmed down, he even took the time to tell me in a much nicer way how I had messed up, and what I should have done. I've learned a lot from him, and now, when we play together it's much more enjoyable. That is the way to do things, and that is the way we can have a much better comunity.

If someone just insults other players with or without reason, and doesn't get punished for it, chances are, this site will become a place for insults and resentment... people won't login so much for the game as for the vengance, therefore, I think jpliberty as well as other players who routinely insult other players (new ones or old ones) should be called on it, and if they insist, should be prohibited from interacting with others. The "just foe him" solution, doesn't really prevent these players from insulting people the've never played before, and specially new recruits who are just friends we haven't met yet (Wow! How corny was that? lol)

But seriously, this site, for the administrators, is a place of bussiness, and I don't think they can afford people like this scaring possible buyers away, so, they should do something about it.

I'm not going to pass judgement on jplib. But I do think that the "I've read worse" defence is a poor one. If you are breaking the rules then you are breaking the rules, the fact that someone else is breaking them more really isn't a factor.

I also agree fully with Woodruff, especially this...

I'll add this one game mentioned from this report after the last case where he was noted and a friendly pm was sent. jpliberty has been warned.
