"Hoagy, knowingly joined the games after reading the thread"

FYI. I am currently two wins away for the 5 wins required to go towards the cross-map medal on New England. I found that game and joined it. I then had a quick look at their profiles and what other games they were playing (via 'find all games with...') and found they had set up two other USA maps which I've never played before, so I thought I'd give them a go.

They're new recruits, so what. They might be decent players, they might not. Either way I say welcome to CC to these two and I hope to give them a good game.

I've now read the thread you are referring to and looked into it. Yes. They joined the site at about the same time. They might be related or friends and might even be using the same computer. If you look in the Help section you will find that this is permitted.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"13. Can more than one person play from the same computer?

The short answer is yes. Our Multi Hunters are pretty good at distinguishing roommates & family members from people with multiple accounts. However, some members prefer playing only in team games with people from the same computer to avoid accusations of cheating."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As for being 'multis', they have set up as team mates in doubles games, so they are supposed to co-operate with each other. I sincerely hope that they are legitimate users and don't get banned for any reason, having just joined the site.

If I want to play new recruits occassionally (not frequently), I will do so. If I get my a**e whipped, I lose more points than if I'd played a Major, if I win I don't gain many points and the new recruit doesn't lose many (it's a bit like the chess rating system).

And besides noob farming, seems also like a case knowingly benefiting from thrown games (or, in this case, soon-to-be cancelled games).

yeah- his teamates stated in the thread that they were going to join them and than went ahead and did so. Than he post here that he dint know after joining not 1, not 2, but all 3....which is noob farming

it just amazes me no matter how many chances a player gets that they continue to ignore all warnings and still abuse the site.

heres convicted multi Renegades at his best. After he double turns me in round 1 he tries again the next round only to find me waiting for his cheap tactics. this game was completed today. the player is nothing but a problem and abusive.

First off. If they are multies, I find it hard they are new recruits. A new recruit doesnt create a second account within minutes and start 4 double games on 4 strange maps.

Second. The games are played. I have played my turn asap and nobody knows how long the verdict will take. They are plenty of cases that drags out for days or longer and the game could be over by then.

Third. Do we bust people from the moment they are accused? Sure, it looks like a multi, some are clever and some are not, if this is a multi I guess we could put him/her among the not so clever.

Fourth. Games have been deleted in simplier and more difficult cases. The saying they dont delete games are not true. I was interrested in seeing how they would do here or if the potential bust was quick how it would be if nobody have taken a turn, I found it hard to any points to be rewarded at that point.

The problem here is that we cannot know if there is a multi behind the games for sure. So claming it to be a sure thrown game is not true.

this thread is accusing the 3 mentioned above for point farming. there is a seperate thread for the other players as a multi. dont get the 2 confused.

I only stated my case (with a an extra edit now).

I dont think they are new recruits as you stated. And we will have to see if they are multis. Innocent until proven guilty?

theres a " ? " as their rank. How can you not see that they are not new recruits ? They most likely have other accounts on top of the the 2 reported. Please keep that information to the other thread and quit trying to side track this thread. You guys tried to farm the 3 games.

I agree that they most likely joined for free points. I say they're guilty, personally, but one seems to have an excuse of sorts. So, I think as punishment they should be kicked from the games and warned about it.

If it is a problem to join one game with a ? out of lets say 500 or so. Then it is a clear case of joining in order to farm.
But if this is the case for you. It stated in the rules that is not allowed to systematically "farming" new recruits. And i cant see how this can be systematically "farming" new recruits.

I do admit that is another case if you look to the multi question.

Then I have missunderstood. I am sorry. I took it as a warning for the infractions to be stopped. In the courts I have worked at the judge doesnt give out warnings so often as a punishment nor after someone is convicted.

Ie. The police lets you go with a warning if you speed 8 km/h to fast.....

Depends how smart the police are. Breaking the rules is breaking the rules...that's like saying if I steal one snicker bar from a deli I am innocent of robbery.

Yes you will be innocent of robbery, but you have shoplifted, that is a crime too.

I only ment, even if the shopkeeper gets you redhanded but says: i will let you go with a warning. Then you will not be a convicted shoplifter. But this is besides the point in this thread. So lets drop it.

Listen mate. It's not a big deal I think. But I do think you all should have known better. You are experienced players, you spend time in the C&A forum and should recognize a likely multi when you seen one. Due to that, I think it's reasonable to assume you took a short-cut here. Had it been new, inexperienced players, I doubt that JR would have created this thread.

your right. the fact that well known abusers with a ton of experienced joined 3 games against new recruits/multis just to gain points needs to be dealt with and treated as farming. im sure they will receive yet another warning to add to their lengthy collection of abuse.

The users in question joined games with accused multi's directly after the games were pointed out. If they were truly multis they would be kicked form the games and the users get free points.

They found the games after Alstergen posted this...

"Nice catch. Now the 10 000 dollar question is, who will quickly snap up and join the three open games for the free points?"

...in this thread. It's common knowledge that one of the potential points-scumming exploits to come out of "multi's getting kicked from games" is to join the games just before they get busted. They knew what they were doing, the three of them. They've all been hanging around C+A for the past month.

Hoagy: 22 posts in the last month
Renegades: 12 posts in the last month
Juventino: 72 posts in the last month

I mean, seriously, this post came IMMEDIATELY after the one quoted above...

Guilty as sin

I think the guilt part is out of the question, as it is pretty obvious. The question is, what will the punishment be? Given their fairly clean records (seeing as Juventino only has 1 warning for an unrelated subject, and the other two are clean) I don't think that they will be punished too severely.

As for precedents, knowingly and intentionally joining one game with a suspected multi seem to be enough for a warning.
