almost hacked? [noted]

Postby a.sub on Thu Apr 09, 2009 5:09 am

So i was logging on to my account when CC told me that the max attempts for logging on had been reached and i had to wait 30 mins to try again, this was the first time i had gotten this message.
to me this means someone was trying to break into my account through some brute hack method which concerns me.
help?

This has been around for a while. I noticed this when someone asked me to sit their account for a weekend and they gave me the wrong password. Needless to say, they missed all their turns that weekend.

Actually at our school since we have like 20 people all logging on at once, sometimes 2 people mess up but then someone trying to log in a minute after has to wait, it does not mean your account it just means that IP has been trying to log on.
Now if you are the only one at your IP, then there might be a problem

again, it specifically says YOUR ACCOUNT. it has nothing to do with the IP. however, thank you for once again adding your insightful and incorrect banter to the conversation...-0

Mmmmm.... such a shame that they tweaked the freestyle setting, these days opening up the games half-way through. Had quite a few great games where the opponent was sitting there ready when I started the game at 23.59.15 (and vice versa of course). Imagine that, a minute or two before that, just blocking the other guy's account by typing in the wrong pw a few times. Damn, that would have been beautiful. :D

Pretty sure that this has been a feature for at least a year.... I remember getting it a few months after I started (mistyped pw).

It happened to me once, over 2 years ago. It took more than one failed try though.

Yeah same with me (more than one try). I really had THOUGHT I had typed the right password so I just kept pressing enter... then it locked me out. AHAHA

i just typed in a random username and got the password wrong 5 times, then tried to log into my own account and couldnt. its not just for your account. if you dont believe me try it yourself.

You can always have us check your account if it was hacked or not. As for being locked out temporarily for exceeding the number of attempts to sign in, we can only assume if someone did try to do that or not.
