FYI my son has also joined conquer club. [Noted]

Postby phantomfears on Mon Apr 06, 2009 2:38 am

My son has joined conquerclub after seeing me playing it. Just letting you know as he will be playing from home also. I take it that it will show as the same IP address. His I.D. is ezekial 25:17. Is there anything else I should do regarding this and secondly is it OK to play him at any stage or would that not be allowed?

to avoid suspicions from other players, you should play only doubles games with him

What Joodoo means is you should not play against your son in games. Team games are fine, but standard/terminator/assassin is the sort of thing where you're going to get flagged as abusing the system. I would like to advise you further on what you can and can't do, but since there's a moritorium on what the community is allowed to know about two accounts from one machine, you're just going to have to wing it and hope you don't get busted for undisclosed reasons, which if you do, you should accept without question, because the mods are always right :|

you can pretty much ignore the advice of epi who is just disgruntled at the management for a lot of reasons right now.

Some of the advice is sound, but clearly its mostly meant to make a statement.

1. Dont make moves for your son or log into his account, unless as a babysitter if he is unable to make his move, and if you are in no games with him.

Thats really the only rule you have to worry about, assuming you dont start joining public games and not attacking each other.

2. Though its legal, avoiding public games against each other may be a good idea. Its difficult for many to believe you could be unbiased. Further, if you get into a game where strategy makes it seem like your biased, you will annoy everyone in the game, and ultimately yourselves. You can do it, but it may not be worth the risk for you.

3. You can and should play private games against each other. It would be a waste of a game if you couldnt play against your own kid. If however, you win every one of them or a massive percentage, or win 20 straight, where you actually gain a lot of points, you will probably be investigated, but if you play some games, even the occasional public one, and they play out normal, you will probably be fine.

There is always the chance that your account will look like a multi account, but if you do not use it as one, you will almost certainly be fine. While epi is painting the hunters as the gestapo here, they are actually all reasonable, and put a lot of time and energy into trying to make a fair decision.

You can pretty much ignore the advice of AAFitz as he simply has a thing against me because he is THOTA and I am LoW, and our clans are not on the best of terms at the moment, so he feels the need to follow me round the forums trolling away.

To date, AAFitz has called out 10 people as multis with 3 busted, I have called out 25 people with 16 busted/banned. Fitz has been here since 2006, I have been here since 2008. So Fitz has a strike rate of 30% with 1 correct bust a year, I have a strike rate of 64% with 16 busts a year. I have contributed a great deal to the smooth running of this site, and despite the fact that I believe it isn't being managed properly, that does not diminish my ability to advise my fellow community members on proper behaviour.

There is no way for the mods to distinguish between babysitting and taking turns ad lib, so babysitting for your son will potentially get your account banned. If you do percieve the need to babysit his account, clear it with the mods first, as they aren't giving definitive answers regarding this at the moment. It is important that you get it in writing from the staff so that you can present it as support if you ever get investigated.

I'd already pointed this out Fitz, but thanks for stepping in to take credit. Nice of you to leave out that team games doesn't fall under this umbrella.

Team games are ok to play together, as you cannot favour each other - teammates favour each other by definition, so there is no hard and fast rule about being on the same team. With other game types, where you play against each other, as I stated before, this could well become cause for suspicion which could ultimately lead to a bust.

You should definitely not play private games against each other. When I used to hunt out multis, one of the first things I did was search for 2 player private games, as they stand out like a sore thumb for multi behaviour. They are one of the trademarks of multis made for points dumping. It does not matter if you don't win all the games, if you win a big majority, it will look like cheating. Even if you are definitely two different people, private games where one player wins the majority can raise suspicion of points dumping, which is a bustable offence.

There are several cases of the hunters getting it wrong by simply looking at evidence applying a blanket rule. Hunters, like community members, are human - they make mistakes just like the rest of us. Reasonable or not, they make mistakes. Occassionally humans don't like to own up to mistakes and have trouble apologising for them. I'm not saying that has happened here on CC, but it is part of being human, and we have to accept that, on occassion, there are going to be mistakes made that are not rectified.

I tend to agree with e_i_pi on this particular issue...if you babysit your son's account (or he yours), you really are asking for trouble because there's no way for the multi-hunters to differentiate between that and cheating with it.

The only advice I can give, as I just went through this, is to not login to your son's account. Use the Game Finder feature to monitor his games. Just search active games and his user account.

He is 16 so he isn't going to mess around. I guess for now I will get him into some doubles games on my team to begin with.

Disclose the fact on your wall.

If you are still concerned then send an e-ticket letting them know that you are genuine.

As mentioned above, avoid getting to involved in his turns!

Above all, enjoy!
