blackraptor58 & nemrehs1 [blocked]

Postby Humrlmo on Fri Feb 20, 2009 10:38 am

Accused:

blackraptor58
nemrehs1

The accused are suspected of:

Other: Account sharing.

Game number(s):

Game 4234631 **** game that grabbed my attention
Game 3173268
Game 3173449
Game 3213336

Comments: It's my belief that these players know one anothers passwords for their accounts and during freestyle doubles games one person will take turns for both to gain advantage in games if possible (not speed games - they do play at same time). During Game 4234631 turns were taking 1 after the other but only after one had logged off.

Immediately after nemrehs1 played his turn, that account was logged off and blackraptor58 was logged on and took his turn - about the amount of time it would take to switch on the same computer. After that blackraptor58 logged off and nemrehs1 logged back on. Not sure if it's was to go play other games. But I do believe the same person played for both players! I can't prove it, but would like it checked.

last time i checked it wasn't illegal for you to have someone take your turns for you in a team game. i've had it done before when i knew i wouldn't be able to get to a computer for a day or more. although it is incredibly cheap to do in freestyle i'm not sure if you'll get them busted for it

Yeah, this is account sharing, it's account sitting. nemrehs1 is a good, but busy, person, so he has his friend account sit.

It's illegal if the sitting is used to gain a strategic advantage, especially in a freestyle game, rather than to prevent missing a turn. The OP is justified in getting this case examined by a hunter.

ive noticed that nem has had less and less time online lately and black has been taking his turns more and more often, i doubt it was done with evil intent

I understand account sitting & have been asked if I would for someone else. Never was it for a game that I was part of (with or against that person). What's to say that one person did not create freestyle game & join with both for just that reason of account switching?

no i dont log on as blackraptor58 and join him in games i make.. i wont do that... but black's dad is on the computer most of the time because that is part of his job. so i take his turns for him sometimes. and im busy sometimes because i am out most of the time or lately i have been really sick so black takes my turns when i cant. the reason i took those turns is because i didnt want to miss the turn just because black's dad is on computer and i am sleeping or someone else in my family is on the computer, my brother is in college and i have sometimes missed turns because he is on computer all day and my mom plays games on computer to, so im srry if it was beneficial to our game, i would rather do that than miss a turn altogether.

I do believe that this is abusing account sitting. I know I saw somewhere "if you have no access to a computer for 24 hours and may miss a turn". This sounds more like an excuse than a reason. You took both of the turns & my question is: would he have missed, or did you just do it because you were there & it looked like you would gain an advantage? I think the second part. :-s

Your computer access is not my concern....you taking black's turn is & logging on/off for both accounts. Where's the reason for that?

I believe that Humrlmo has a point here. Malicious intentions or not, just because you are teammates, does not automatically justify that you can take turns for your teammate any time you guys want.

You should only take another player's turn if they are in danger of missing a turn, not for the purpose of gaining a tactical advantage.

It is also not an excuse if you just want the game to go faster so you just take a turn for your teammate. You are not new accounts not to know this rule. I have no choice but to put a block between blackraptor58 and nemrehs1 from playing together for now.

This is a BS decision.

When account sitting, someone doesn't pick up a watch and time when their friends turns are going to be "just about over". People simply log on when they usually do, take their turns, log on to their partner, take their turns, and then leave. This isn't trying to gain a tactical advantage, this is taking a turn so their partner doesn't deadbeat, while also having a life.

Bullshit smells like bullshit.

Twill wrote:It seems as though some people have taken the shelfing of this current proposal to mean that sitting is now a free for all.

It mean's we've had to update the FAQ rule a little to clarify:

FAQ 15 wrote:You can, with the stipulation that the account babysitter is not your opponent in any current game and does not start or join new games (except for ongoing tournaments). It is common courtesy to announce in game chat that another player will take your turn(s) during your absence. Furthermore, you should only take another player's turn if they are in danger of missing a turn, not for the purpose of gaining a tactical advantage.

(emphasis added)

This is not a departure from what was true before, it simply makes tactical account sitting a punishable offence (which is always has been in practice)

I will update the first post with this as well.

Have a good one
Twill

The important bit was bolded by Twill and is the bit I will refer to....They didn't take turns to gain an advantage..

He was only taking turns since blackraptor knew that nemrehs1 was not going to be able to take a turn and so was in danger of missing a turn.

Kotaro, I see where you're coming from, but there was no "leaving" done. The accounts were switched back & forth enough to try and gain an advantage with focus on that game. To say it's not is simply defending friends rather than seeing it for what it is - abusing the sitting rule!

Where was the danger of missing a turn in doing that?

I would suggest about sending an e-ticket everyday about this...that would be "intentionally annoying" and a bannable offense ;)

Kind of like moderators blowing off e-tickets because they're lazy fucks? Yeah, that's pretty damn annoying too.

Uhh, the danger of missing a turn? The danger was a game loss, and a possible missed turn. When Nem's jumps off, he's done for the day. And his schedule is chaotic. He probably wanted to finish the damn game, because he knew he wouldn't be getting on for a long ass time.

And again, there's no strategic advantage here that wouldn't have happened, if blackraptor58 would have been allowed to come online. They took their turns together? Oh no! He took a turn! So the f*ck what? This is just one man getting pissy that he lost, and calling cheating where there is no. Can't believe King A didn't have enough common sense to throw this out. Utter bullshit.

Actually you seem to be confused on two things.

1) This isn't flame wars. Keep flames out of here unless you want to be taken out of here.
2) Moderators don't handle e-tickets...Admins do (more specifically KA or Andy, but I forget which).

Kotaro, you obviously did not check out the game! "Pissy about a loss"? We won that game, FYI, and it's not about a win or loss, about cheating. And to say "The danger was a game loss", is admitting knowledge that switching back and forth in accounts is a tactical advantage!

The decision is done, unless it gets changed, and bitching by you (for what? it's not against you!) on this thread is not doing you any good. Do you agree with cheating?

I'm "bitching" because it's a load of shit. If I asked someone to account sit for me, which I recently did, I wouldn't expect him to "wait until the last minute to take a turn so as not to get an advantage", I'd expect him to take the turn when he damn well is able to. And yes, if Nem's could only take the turns during one portion of the day, as is with all people that actually have lives and don't sit in front of the computer all day, then yes, he would have missed black's turn, which would lose anyone a game, when their partner deadbeats.

How is switching back and forth an advantage? Did it somehow give him bonus armies that would have not otherwise been there? Maybe it gave him some sort of magical dice? Or perhaps, if his partner had been on and since they're such a good team, would the exact same thing happened?

1) If you take it as a flame that you're not doing your jobs, then hey, do your jobs, and I won't "flame" anymore. And don't give me that bs about how "it's not a job, we volunteer". If you volunteered to do a job, then do it, or get out and let someone who will do their job in.
2) Everytime I've ever submitted an e-ticket, I get a stupid little email at the end that says something along the lines of "blah blah blah, we've handled this case, if you have questions about the decision, ask Night Strike", and I don't know why the email would tell me to ask someone who didn't choose the decision about the decision.

Why not let everybody in every team match have one player take their turns for their team and make an excuse that the other guy has a busy schedule? Anybody can say, "I knew he was going to miss a turn, so I took his turn for him..."

Switching from one account to another in a game when the other player still has a lot of time to make his turn can be considered as an abuse of account sitting. It even borders to account sharing. One person is controlling 2 accounts in a game. If it is a casual game, you have 24 hours to make your turn. Respect that time given. You do not necessarily wait for at least an hour left to make the turn but you do not take turns for each other just minutes after you finished yours.

Rules have been made to correct an abuse or misconception. Whether there was some cheating or not, if it goes against the rules, we will respond to cases according to what was done and not by who has done it.

Freestyle & esc cards, so yeah, switching back & forth does give an advantage when he has 2 players to chose from and knows when to use the cards & where to deploy for the switch between accounts. No different than holding two accounts (multi) for the same purpose. I agree they would have done the exact same thing, but that's not what happened, it's one person playing.
Why don't you account sit if it disturbs you that much & you're friends with them?

"Magical dice", that's funny!
