Taking advantage of a point dump is indeed illegal.

I must admit I was thinking the very same thing.

You idiots would make good Hunters. ..."NOT".
I have never played coded before, and do not know him. Yesterday I joined 13 games against a Major like myself. I was in game finder looking for some games to join. From my record you can see that I like to join games against equal or higher ranks than myself. I saw this guy starting a whole lot of games. I joined 13 of them.
Today I find that he is a sarg. So I decided to wait to take my turns, in hopes that he would bring his score back up a bit.
Then just a few hours later, I see that he is a cadet.
I do not know why a player would do this. All I can tell you, is that he seemed to be playing to win, and he did not deadbeat any games.
If I was in on some point dumping scheme, I would have tried to beat him when he was still a Major. How many points could I get from him now ? 40 ?

Coded isn't point dumping, he's simply just getting the losses out of the way. He has 300 games going and is planning to lose all the games first, then win all the remaining. He's not point dumping, just using simple math to get a higher score.

It is point dumping. You just said it.
kadif wrote:He has 300 games going and is planning to lose all the games first, then win all the remaining.
That is the same thing as dumping my friend.
And one more note. I'm surprised I'm not on this list. I joined a good bit myself. But many less than most of these guys did. And when I joined them he was Major, how would I know he was going to dump?

My guess is, he is not pointdumping per see. He is delaying winning any games, and taking his losses quickly. He will try to set up an impressive winningstreak. Apparently he believes he will win point through this sceme somehow.
I have been going over some math. I failed to see a significat increase in point unless he maintains he win to loose ratio. Only in the case of maintaining the win/loose ratio combined with playing all the lost games first, and then win the rest will you end up with more points over win a game, loose a game.
The lower he gets, the less points he is going to loose, vice versa, he is going to gain less points once he gets more points then his opponants. All in all, it is not worth the aggrevation. Just for this sceme, you are the first foe this year.

Yes. But I think it makes sense if having 300 games going. If you do it with just a few games, guess the point gain at the end of the day would be just a point or two, but with 300 it may make a somewhat decent difference. Guess it's just a question of whether it's worth the hassle or not.
But the charge is ridiculous I think if it's not a matter of loosing all games. People should be perfectly allowed to take advantage of the game engine and to experiment. Will be interesting to hear what the outcome point-wise was afterwards.

I agree in a way alstergren, but only because they could have never known that he was going to dump points. I didn't know he was going to dump points. I only joined 8 or so, but he has only lost 2 of them soo far.
But I do disagree to a point.

Unwritten Rules
Obviously any gross abuse of the game is forbidden. This includes but is not limited to: throwing games or deliberately benefiting from thrown games, intentional deadbeating, serial teammate killing, hijacking accounts.
It is stated on the rules page. If the games were threw then it is against the rules, and they have given others point resets for things like this before. If I would have known he was gonna throw the games then I wouldn't have joined them. But all that did join should know the rules seeing that we are all CC players, and are on here enough to read the rules.

As I understood the posts above, he did not enter the games with the intention to loose them. Just that once it was clear that a game was a gonner, he just took his turns quickly there to finnish them off. And that's fine, people do it all the time and can't really qualify as throwing it.

agreed. Joining a major does not mean you expect points from throwing games. Esp since the games are not thrown. Just the wins are not collected

Once it is determined if coded was point dumping, this case will be settled. coded should have submitted an eticket for his case.

I don't think it was determined yet as his post was the last one before yours. Therefore you are not cleared until they make a decision on it. Patience.

Benefiting from point dumping is gross abuse too, I doubt you'll be cleared but in the past no action has been taken from those benefiting from point dumping.

You do NOT understand. coded is Not point dumping. All the evidence points toward the fact that he is merely playing out his lost cause games first, and saving his winning games for last. How is that "point dumping" ? And oh by the way, I have not benefited at all. Just the opposite.
I do not like being taken advantage of like this, and, I am sure the other players feel the same way. But at the same time, It is clear for anyone to see that coded is playing within the rules. All I ask is that, we should immediately be cleared of any wrong doing.

Whether he is point dumping will be determined by Twill or Andy after they talk with coded. Once that is determined, then this case will be looked at. Until that time, I am locking this thread. A mod will post any updates.

Because Coded was actively playing to win in all his games (or so it seems) and not default dumping points, these guys weren't taking advantage of a "handout".
Half of them got shafted anyway.
Not farming (which we need to stop throwing around as a catch all)
Not point harvesting
cleared.
